Eldric the Ice King Guide

Eldric the Ice King is a combat level 350 giant boss and one half of the Royal Titans, fought alongside Branda the Fire Queen in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. He has 600 Hitpoints, a Defence level of 100, and attacks with Crush. Released on 5 February 2025, the Royal Titans are an entry-level boss designed for players with 70-90+ combat level, and exist to introduce the practice of gear switching.

There are no requirements to access or fight the Titans, and they can be fought in a duo or solo. Eldric is the easier Titan to reach at the start of a fight, so he is usually the one struck first. His standout rewards are the ice element staff crown, the deadeye prayer scroll (which unlocks the Deadeye prayer, a direct upgrade to Eagle Eye), and the giantsoul amulet. Whether you are clearing a Slayer task or chasing those uniques, this guide covers how the fight works and how to gear for it.

Requirements & where to fight

The Royal Titans live in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon, on a five-tile-wide strip of land between the Crandor and Karamja Dungeon and the Ice Dungeon. There are no skill or quest requirements to access or fight them.

Eldric counts as an Ice Giants Slayer monster (assignable by Vannaka, granting 735 Slayer experience per kill), so a slayer task here lets you wear a slayer helmet for its damage and accuracy bonus.

From the dungeon entrance, run north past the pirates and muggers, then west. Players with 60 Agility can take a tunnel shortcut directly west of the entrance to reach the boss room faster. Once you own the giantsoul amulet (a drop from the Titans), it teleports you directly outside the boss room. The fairy ring code AIQ sits south of the dungeon entrance, and several teleports land north of it.

Recommended stats & gear

The Wiki recommends moderate combat stats across all styles: 70+ Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged and Hitpoints, plus 43 Prayer for protection prayers. A Magic level of 75+ is recommended so that Fire Wave and Water Wave can hit 40 and one-shot the elemental minions; below this you will not one-shot them.

This is a melee-primary fight. A typical setup leans on melee damage and prioritises a strong melee weapon and melee strength bonus, with a ranged weapon brought for when the Titans pull out of melee range, and magic switches to clear walls and elementals. Eldric is slightly weaker to crush, but not enough to favour a crush weapon over something stronger. For the exact best-in-slot loadout at your stats and budget, use our Boss Gear Finder above — pick from the melee and ranged gear families for your level. To hit the magic accuracy threshold that guarantees one-shotting elementals, you need +70 magic attack bonus (or +39 with the full void mage set); a Magic staff such as the twinflame staff is ideal because it auto-swaps between fire and water spells.

Inventory & supplies

Pack a kit that lets you switch between all three styles without running out of supplies:

  • Ranged weapon and gear to hit the Titans while they are out of melee range.
  • Magic gear and an autocast staff reaching +70 magic attack bonus, to destroy walls and one-shot elementals (the twinflame staff supplies infinite fire and water runes).
  • Prayer potions, plus a combat boost — super strength, super attack and a ranging potion at budget level, scaling up to a divine super combat potion and divine ranging potion.
  • A rune pouch with runes for Water Wave/Blast and Fire Wave/Blast.
  • Food — sharks, dark crabs or anglerfish depending on your budget.
  • An emergency teleport, and the giantsoul amulet for fast return trips once you have it.

Fight mechanics

The Titans share a small arena and use a handful of attacks. Most damage is avoidable, so a solo player mainly faces a longer fight rather than a harder one.

Ranged accuracy boost: Despite Eldric's very high ranged defence of +700, you get a hidden +500% (6x) ranged accuracy whenever he is out of melee distance, lasting until he turns to re-engage in melee. This boost also applies for the entirety of the Elemental Blast, including its charge-up. So melee him when he is close, and switch to ranged the moment he backs off.

Stomp: A melee attack hitting the three rows in front of the Titan, dealing up to 26 damage. Block it with Protect from Melee. Used while in melee distance in phase 1, and across the whole arena in phase 2.

Fire / Icicle Walls: A row of fire or icicles forms over four ticks, blocking that row. Standing on a targeted tile deals up to 12 damage but stops the wall forming. Walls are destroyed by their opposing element — douse fires with Water Blast or greater (ice spells also work) and melt icicles with Fire Blast or greater — with no attack delay regardless of magic bonus.

Fire / Ice elementals: The Titans summon three elementals that attack with melee and, if left alive, self-destruct for 8-10 damage in a 3x3 area. With +70 magic attack bonus (or +39 with full void mage) your fire/water spell is a guaranteed hit, striking a 3x3 area; elementals take double damage from their opposing element. Each elemental you kill grants a 1-tick reduction to your attack delay.

Elemental Blast: Used once the fight reaches phase 2. The Titans blast the whole area with their element three times, leaving one safe tile, dealing up to 30 damage per blast.

Strategy & kill rotation

Phase 1: Branda and Eldric start briefly in melee distance at the centre. Run in and strike one of them (Eldric is easiest) before they pull apart, then your ranged accuracy multiplier kicks in. While they are at range they conjure walls and icicles, with elementals appearing after one Titan takes 100 damage. Kill the elementals before they stack and self-destruct. After roughly 20 seconds the Titans step back into melee and stomp; when one drops below 210 (35%) Hitpoints, the fight transitions to phase 2.

When soloing, stagger the two Titans' melee/ranged cycles so at least one is always in melee range — stand far away so they must walk the full distance, delaying their sequence. This keeps your DPS high by letting you run back and forth instead of dropping to weaker ranged damage.

Phase 2: Both Titans move onto the main area and begin the Elemental Blast rotation, also stomping (now across the whole arena) and summoning elementals. They generally sync their attacks. Try to bring both Titans as low as possible before killing either — defeating one leaves the other unchecked by its opposing element, so its stomps deal up to 10 damage through prayer and the blast safespot is forced to the furthest row. During the blast there is a one-or-two-tick gap between the second and third blasts you can use to melee once and run back, safe only if the safespot is two tiles from the Titan; at three tiles, use a halberd instead, otherwise attack with ranged.

Notable drops

Building the notable-drops list from the Wiki drop table, Eldric's marquee uniques are:

  • Ice element staff crown1/75. Combined with the fire element staff crown (from Branda) and a battlestaff to create the twinflame staff.
  • Deadeye prayer scroll1/75. Unlocks the Deadeye prayer, a direct upgrade to Eagle Eye. No longer dropped once you have read the scroll.
  • Giantsoul amulet1/16. Teleports you straight to the boss room, making return trips far faster.
  • Bran (pet) — 1/3000, doubled to 1/1500 if you sacrifice your loot.

Drop rates assume the Titans are killed by one player; with two players, unique drop rates and regular quantities scale with each player's damage contribution. The full drop table is shown above.

Common mistakes

  • Ignoring the elementals. They stack and have no clear self-destruct indicator, so their 8-10 damage adds up fast — kill them, or out-gear them with a high-level reset strategy.
  • Staying on ranged while Eldric is in melee. His melee defence is far lower than his ranged defence, so always melee when he is close and only switch to ranged when he pulls away.
  • Killing one Titan too early. Once one dies, the survivor goes unchecked, hits harder through prayer, and forces the blast safespot to the far row. Bring both low first.
  • Under-levelled Magic. Below 75 Magic (or under +70 magic attack bonus) you will splash on or fail to one-shot elementals, letting their damage pile up.

Eldric the Ice King Guide — FAQ

What level do I need to fight Eldric the Ice King?

There are no requirements to access or fight the Royal Titans. The Wiki recommends 70+ Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged and Hitpoints, 75+ Magic to one-shot the elementals with Fire Wave and Water Wave, and 43 Prayer for protection prayers.

Do I have to fight Branda the Fire Queen too?

Yes. Eldric and Branda are the Royal Titans and are fought together in the same arena, either solo or in a duo. Eldric is the easier of the two to reach at the start, so he is usually the first one struck.

What is Eldric weak to?

Eldric has a 50% elemental weakness to Fire spells (added in the 25 June 2025 Summer Sweep Up). He is also slightly weaker to crush in melee, and although his ranged defence is +700, you get a hidden +500% (6x) ranged accuracy whenever he is out of melee distance.

What are the best drops from Eldric?

His marquee uniques are the ice element staff crown (1/75), used with Branda's fire element staff crown to build the twinflame staff; the deadeye prayer scroll (1/75), which unlocks the Deadeye prayer; and the giantsoul amulet (1/16) for fast teleports to the boss. The pet, Bran, drops at 1/3000 (or 1/1500 if you sacrifice your loot).
