How to get the Bandos chestplate
The chestplate drops from General Graardor, the Bandos boss in the God Wars Dungeon. You need a 40 Bandos killcount to enter his room, earned by killing Bandos followers in the dungeon. Most players buy it on the Grand Exchange instead.
General Graardor drop rate
| Drop | Rate per kill |
| Bandos chestplate (this piece) | ~1 in 381 |
| Any Bandos armour piece | ~1 in 127 |
Entry needs 40 Bandos killcount. The "any piece" rate covers the chestplate, tassets or boots — the chance of this specific piece is lower. Source: OSRS Wiki.
Part of the Bandos set (chestplate + tassets + boots) — but there is no mechanical set bonus. Each piece works on its own; wearing all three gives no extra effect.
Bandos chestplate FAQ
What level do you need for a Bandos chestplate?
Just 65 Defence to wear it. There's no Strength or Attack requirement — the "70 Strength" people mention is for accessing the Stronghold, not the armour.
How do you get the Bandos chestplate?
It drops from General Graardor in the God Wars Dungeon (1/381 for this piece, 1/127 for any Bandos piece) — or buy it off the Grand Exchange.
Is there a Bandos set bonus?
No. The chestplate, tassets and boots are a matching set in look only — there's no in-game bonus for wearing all three.
Is the Bandos chestplate still good?
Yes — it's still a top non-degrading melee body with a strength bonus. Only degradable sets like Torva beat it, at a far higher cost.
How much is a Bandos chestplate worth?
Around 23M on the Grand Exchange — see the live price and history chart above. The price drifts with God Wars supply and melee demand.
Bandos chestplate vs fighter torso — which is better?
Both give +4 strength, but the Bandos chestplate has far higher defence in every melee style. The fighter torso is earned free from Barbarian Assault, so it's the budget pick; Bandos is the upgrade once you can afford it.
Bandos chestplate vs Torva platebody?
The Torva platebody beats Bandos on every stat, but it costs hundreds of millions more and degrades with use. The Bandos chestplate never degrades and is a fraction of the price, which is why it stays the go-to mid-game body.
Is the Bandos chestplate good for Dharok's / low-HP setups?
For a Dharok's "1-HP" setup people often use Dharok's own body for the set effect. The Bandos chestplate is the better general-purpose melee body — higher defence and a strength bonus without needing the full set.
Does the Bandos chestplate have requirements other than Defence?
No — only 65 Defence to wear. Reaching General Graardor's room needs a 40 Bandos killcount, but the armour itself has no Attack or Strength requirement.
