How to get the elder maul
The elder maul is a reward from the Chambers of Xeric raid. It is found in the Ancient chest, the reward chest opened after a completed raid, at a rarity of 2/69.
Because it is tradeable, you do not have to raid for one yourself — most players simply buy it on the Grand Exchange, where it sits around 95M. The buy limit is 8 every 4 hours.
Special attack — Pulverize
The elder maul's special attack, Pulverize, costs 50% special attack energy. It boosts the player's accuracy by 25%, and a successful hit reduces the target's current Defence level by 35% — effectively a superior version of the dragon warhammer's special attack.
The reduction stacks over multiple successful hits, with each drain calculated from the already-lowered level. After successive hits the target's Defence sits at 65%, 42.25%, 27.5%, 17.85%, 11.6%, then 7.5% of the original, with fractional levels rounded down. For example, on a monster with 75 Defence the first spec drops it to 49, and the next to 32.
Against Tekton the first special attack is guaranteed to hit; if later specs miss, they instead reduce 5% of his Defence. Note the spec animation has a 1-tick delay versus a normal attack.
