The berserker ring is the strength-bonus member of the Fremennik rings, dropped only by Dagannoth Rex at a 1/128 rate in the Waterbirth Island Dungeon. With no level requirement to equip, it gives +4 strength and +4 crush defence — one of the handful of rings that raise your melee max hit rather than just accuracy, making it a default DPS ring for well over a decade. It currently trades around 3M on the Grand Exchange, and can be imbued to double both bonuses, though the ultor ring now sits above it for raw strength.
Equipment bonuses
The berserker ring's defining stat is its +4 strength bonus, which feeds directly into your maximum hit — a rarity for the ring slot. It also carries +4 crush defence and has no level requirement to equip.

Other bonuses
Imbuing the ring (via Nightmare Zone, Soul Wars, Combat Achievements, or Emir's Arena points) doubles both numbers to +8 strength and +8 crush defence.

How to get the berserker ring
The berserker ring is dropped only by Dagannoth Rex, the melee-based Dagannoth King found deep in the Waterbirth Island Dungeon. Rex is the sole source of both the berserker and warrior rings.
- Drop rate: 1/128 per kill
- Source: Dagannoth Rex (Waterbirth Island Dungeon)
Because the ring is a guaranteed Grand Exchange item, most players simply buy it for around 3M rather than farming Rex. If you do hunt it yourself, the Dagannoth Rex gear finder can help you put together a fast, accurate setup for the kills. Group Ironmen without individual prestige need at least one Rex kill before they can wear the ring.
Imbuing the berserker ring
The berserker ring can be upgraded into the berserker ring (i), which doubles its bonuses to +8 strength and +8 crush defence. Imbuing costs one of the following:
- 650,000 Nightmare Zone reward points (or 325,000 with the hard tier of Combat Achievements)
- 260 Soul Wars Zeal Tokens
- A scroll of imbuing bought for 200 Emir's Arena reward points
The imbued ring is untradeable. If you die to another player without protecting it, the imbue is removed — but you are refunded the points or scroll so it can be re-imbued. Dying to a monster never removes the imbue.
Is the berserker ring worth it?
For its low price the berserker ring is one of the most cost-effective DPS upgrades in the melee ring slot. Strength bonus raises your maximum hit, which usually lowers kill times more than the pure accuracy of rings like the tyrannical or warrior ring — especially against low-Defence targets.
It is no longer the highest strength ring, however. The ultor ring now boasts the highest strength bonus of any ring, beating the imbued berserker ring by +4 strength, but it sits far higher on the cost and requirement curve (it needs Vardorvis access from Desert Treasure II). For the vast majority of accounts, the berserker ring — imbued where possible — remains the standard, affordable melee ring. Compare it live on the GE price tracker.
Berserker ring FAQ
How do you get the berserker ring?
It is dropped by Dagannoth Rex in the Waterbirth Island Dungeon at a rate of 1/128. Rex is the only monster that drops it. Most players buy it from the Grand Exchange instead, where it trades around 3M.
What level do you need to wear the berserker ring?
No level requirement. Any account can equip the berserker ring. Group Ironmen without individual prestige need at least one Dagannoth Rex kill first.
What does the berserker ring do?
It gives +4 strength bonus and +4 crush defence. The strength bonus raises your maximum hit, making it one of the few rings that boosts melee damage rather than just accuracy.
How do you imbue the berserker ring?
Use 650,000 Nightmare Zone reward points (or 325,000 with the hard Combat Achievements tier), 260 Soul Wars Zeal Tokens, or a scroll of imbuing bought for 200 Emir's Arena points. The berserker ring (i) doubles the bonuses to +8 strength and +8 crush defence.
Is the berserker ring still good in 2026?
Yes — it remains a standard, affordable melee DPS ring because strength bonus lowers kill times. It is no longer the strongest, though: the ultor ring now has the highest strength bonus of any ring, beating the imbued berserker ring by +4 strength.
Berserker ring or ultor ring?
The ultor ring is the strict strength upgrade (+12 strength vs the imbued berserker ring's +8), but it is far pricier and requires Vardorvis access from Desert Treasure II. The berserker ring is the budget choice that covers nearly every melee setup.
How much is the berserker ring worth?
The uncharged berserker ring trades around 3M on the Grand Exchange. See the live price and history on the GE price tracker.
Does the berserker ring have a special attack?
No. It is an equipment ring with no special attack — it simply provides its +4 strength and +4 crush defence bonuses passively while worn.
