The onyx amulet is the unenchanted neck-slot item you turn into an amulet of fury. How to get the onyx amulet
The onyx amulet is not a drop — you craft it, or buy the finished amulet on the Grand Exchange. To make one yourself:
- Use an onyx and a gold bar on a furnace with an amulet mould in your inventory to create an onyx amulet (u) (unstrung). This needs level 90 Crafting and gives 165 Crafting experience.
- Then string the unstrung amulet using a ball of wool (level 1 Crafting, 4 experience), or the String Jewellery spell from the Lunar spellbook (80 Magic, requires Lunar Diplomacy).
Because the onyx itself is expensive, most players simply buy the strung onyx amulet outright on the Grand Exchange. You can train the skill on the Crafting guide.
Enchanting the onyx amulet into an amulet of fury
The whole point of the onyx amulet is to enchant it. Casting the Lvl-6 Enchant spell on it turns it into an amulet of fury — a powerful, all-round neck-slot amulet with strength, Prayer and defensive bonuses (the onyx amulet itself has none of these until enchanted).
- Spell requirement: level 87 Magic.
- Rune cost: 20 Earth runes, 20 Fire runes and 1 Cosmic rune per cast.
- Experience: 97 Magic experience per enchant.

Is the onyx amulet worth buying?
Only as a step toward the amulet of fury — never to wear. The onyx amulet has zero combat stats, so the question is really whether to buy it and enchant it yourself or just buy the finished fury on the Grand Exchange.
If you have 87 Magic (or an enchant onyx tablet), buying the onyx amulet and enchanting it can be cheaper than buying the fury directly, since you only pay for the amulet plus a few runes. If you don't have the Magic level and don't want a tablet, buying the finished amulet is simpler.
