How to get the blue moon spear
The blue moon spear is a possible reward from the Lunar Chest in Neypotzli, opened after defeating the Moons of Peril. It is one of the Blue Moon uniques and drops at 1/224 per unique roll (rates shown before duplicate protection).
You must defeat all three Moons once to unlock the chest; afterwards it can be opened after beating at least one Moon. Because it is tradeable, most players simply buy it on the Grand Exchange for roughly 370K rather than farm the chest. You can plan boss setups on the boss gear finder or browse more magic gear.
Hybrid mechanic & special attack
Worn with the full blue moon armour set, the spear gains the Frostweaver set effect: a chance for an instant, free melee hit after you cast a binding spell. There is a 20% chance after a Standard-spellbook Bind or an Ancient Ice spell, and a 50% chance after an Arceuus Grasp spell — even if the spell fails to bind. A common style is autocasting Arceuus Grasp spells with Mark of Darkness active, giving roughly one free melee hit for every two spells that land.
Its special attack, Break Shackles (50% energy), requires the full blue moon set. It removes all binding effects on a target and adds 1.5% accuracy and damage per tick of binding removed; the damage boost is capped at +112.5% while the accuracy boost is uncapped. It also extends the Frostweaver combo into a 3-hit chain. The special grants Strength experience.

The special attack no longer deals disproportionately high damage to NPCs internally considered 'bound' to stop them moving (e.g. phase 3 Yama, phase 2 Verzik Vitur).
