Berserker helm

“This helmet is worn by berserkers.”

The berserker helm is a mid-level melee helmet that needs 45 Defence and completion of The Fremennik Trials to wear. It's prized for its +3 Strength bonus — the second-lowest-level headgear to give one — backed by solid melee defence (+33 crush, +31 stab, +30 ranged defence). Buy it from Skulgrimen's shop in Rellekka, gamble for it in Barbarian Assault, or take it as a 1/2048 dagannoth drop. It trades for a few tens of thousands of coins on the Grand Exchange.

Equipment bonuses

The berserker helm's standout stat is its +3 Strength bonus, rare on a head slot at this level, paired with strong melee defence — +33 crush, +31 stab, +29 slash and +30 defence against ranged. Its only drawback is -5 magic and -5 ranged attack.

With a low 45 Defence requirement and a strength bonus matching the helm of Neitiznot and obsidian helmet, it's a favourite of combat pures and budget mains who can't yet reach the higher-level alternatives.

How to get the berserker helm

You must complete the quest The Fremennik Trials and have 45 Defence before you can wear the berserker helm. There are three ways to obtain one:

  • Skulgrimen's Battle Gear shop in Rellekka sells it for 78,000 coins (and buys it back for 42,000).
  • It's a possible reward from Barbarian Assault High Gambles.
  • It drops from the dagannoths on Waterbirth Island at a rate of 1/2048.

Because it's tradeable, most players simply buy it from the Grand Exchange rather than farming the drop. See the live price and chart above.

Is the berserker helm worth it?

For a low-requirement helmet, yes. The +3 Strength bonus is the main draw — it's the second-lowest-level headgear in the game to offer one, which makes it a staple for combat pures and early melee builds. Its defensive stats are roughly on par with a rune full helm (slightly better stab and crush defence, slightly worse slash).

The natural upgrade is the helm of Neitiznot, which gives the same +3 Strength but adds a +3 Prayer bonus, better crush and magic defence, and drops the negative magic and ranged attack penalties — at the cost of needing 55 Defence and The Fremennik Isles quest. Endgame melee helmets like the neitiznot faceguard and serpentine helm sit above both. If you want a full loadout, plan it with the boss gear finder.

Berserker helm FAQ

What level do you need for the berserker helm?

You need 45 Defence to wear it, plus completion of the quest The Fremennik Trials.

How do you get the berserker helm?

Buy it from Skulgrimen's Battle Gear in Rellekka for 78,000 coins, win it from Barbarian Assault High Gambles, or take it as a 1/2048 drop from the Waterbirth Island dagannoths. It's also freely tradeable on the Grand Exchange.

What's the strength bonus on the berserker helm?

It gives a +3 Strength bonus, the same as the helm of Neitiznot and the obsidian helmet — and it's the second-lowest-level headgear in the game to offer one.

Is the berserker helm better than the helm of Neitiznot?

They share the same +3 Strength bonus. The helm of Neitiznot is better overall — it adds a +3 Prayer bonus, better crush and magic defence, and removes the negative magic and ranged attack — but it needs 55 Defence and The Fremennik Isles quest, versus 45 Defence for the berserker helm.

How much is the berserker helm worth?

It's a relatively cheap helmet, usually trading for a few tens of thousands of coins. For the current figure and price history, check the live Grand Exchange price and chart above.

Can you alch the berserker helm?

Yes — High Level Alchemy gives 36,000 coins and Low Alchemy gives 24,000. Note that Skulgrimen's shop buys it for 42,000, which is more than the high alch value.
