Rune warhammer

“I don't think it's intended for joinery.”

The rune warhammer is a free-to-play crush weapon that needs only 40 Strength and no Attack level to wield. It swings on a 6-tick (3.6s) attack speed with +53 crush and +62 strength, and uniquely for a rune weapon it skips the Attack requirement entirely. That makes it a staple knockout weapon for F2P strength pures. You can smith it at 94 Smithing from 3 runite bars, buy it from shops, or earn it on the Grand Exchange for a few thousand coins.

Equipment bonuses

The rune warhammer's defining bonuses are +53 crush attack and +62 strength, with negative stab and slash accuracy that lock it into the crush style.

How to get the rune warhammer

There are three ways to get a rune warhammer:

  • Smithing — make one at level 94 Smithing using 3 runite bars on an anvil, granting 225 Smithing experience. The level is boostable.
  • Shops — it stocks in several weapon shops, so you can buy one directly in-game.
  • Grand Exchange — the simplest route. It is tradeable with a buy limit of 70 every 4 hours; check the live price and history chart above for the current cost.

It is also a reward item used in the Raspberry hard emote Treasure Trail step inside the Fishing Guild bank, alongside an elemental shield and blue d'hide chaps.

Is the rune warhammer worth it?

The rune warhammer is the second strongest warhammer in the game — better than the adamant warhammer, but weaker than the dragon warhammer. Its real niche is free-to-play: because it needs 40 Strength and no Attack level, it is a popular knockout weapon for F2P strength pures who want a high-strength hit without raising Attack.

Its slow 6-tick speed and crush-only profile mean it is outclassed by faster, more accurate weapons such as the rune scimitar for general training. As a crush option it sits below the dragon warhammer, and members have far stronger choices. For comparable rune-tier melee, the rune scimitar trades raw strength for a much faster slash attack. Plan loadouts with the boss gear finder and browse more weapons on the melee gear page.
