Cooking gauntlets

“These gauntlets empower with a greater ability to cook fish.”

Cooking gauntlets are a skilling glove from the Family Crest quest that greatly reduce the chance of burning higher-tier fish. Worn in the hands slot, they lower the level at which you stop burning lobster, swordfish, cooked kyatt, monkfish, shark and anglerfish — they do not help with any other food.

What the cooking gauntlets do

The gauntlets significantly lower your burn chance on lobster, swordfish, cooked kyatt, monkfish, shark and anglerfish. For example, with the gauntlets you stop burning lobsters at level 64 (instead of 74 on a fire) and sharks around level 94 on a range. They have no effect on any food below tuna. Once you reach 99 Cooking the Cooking cape replaces them entirely, since it works on every food — but keep the gauntlets, as they are needed for a master clue step.

How to get the cooking gauntlets

Complete the Family Crest quest, then take the steel gauntlets it rewards to Caleb near the archery shop in Catherby to enchant them into cooking gauntlets. If your gauntlets already carry a different enchantment, Caleb charges 25,000 coins to swap. Lost gauntlets can be reclaimed free from Dimintheis in south-east Varrock, and after the Family Pest miniquest you can claim extra pairs from Caleb for free.

Complete the Family Crest quest, then take the steel gauntlets to Caleb in Catherby to enchant them into cooking gauntlets.

They greatly reduce your chance of burning lobster, swordfish, cooked kyatt, monkfish, shark and anglerfish. They don't help with any other food.
At what level do you stop burning sharks with cooking gauntlets?
Around level 94 on a range with the gauntlets (lower with Hosidius and the Kourend elite diary), versus far higher without them.

Yes — reclaim them free from Dimintheis in south-east Varrock, with whatever enchantment they had.
