Red chinchompas are stackable, one-handed multi-target Ranged weapons that require 55 Ranged to wield. Thrown like darts, they explode on impact and can hit many stacked enemies at once — which makes them one of the fastest (if expensive) ways to train Ranged and Hitpoints.
Equipment bonuses
Red chinchompas have +70 Ranged attack and +15 Ranged strength. Their real value is the area-of-effect: in PvM a single throw can hit up to 11 targets in a 3×3 area, so your experience per hour depends on how tightly enemies are stacked.
Requires 55 Ranged · one-handed thrown weapon · hits up to 11 targets in a 3×3 · can't be picked back up after throwing.

Training Ranged with red chinchompas
Red chinchompas are widely regarded as the second-fastest way to train Ranged and Hitpoints in the game, behind only the very top methods — but they are costly, since each chinchompa is consumed on use and can't be retrieved. They shine against tightly packed, aggressive monsters such as the skeletons of Ape Atoll or the maniacal monkeys in Kruk's Dungeon, where one throw damages the whole pile. Attack speed is set by your 'fuse': short (4t), medium/rapid (3t) or long (4t).
How to get red chinchompas
You can box-trap carnivorous chinchompas yourself with 63 Hunter after completing the Eagles' Peak quest — a fast, profitable Hunter method — or simply buy red chinchompas on the Grand Exchange (live price above), which most players do when training Ranged.
