Scythe of vitur

The Scythe of Vitur is a two-handed slash weapon requiring 80 Attack and 90 Strength, and a rare drop from the Theatre of Blood. It is one of the most powerful and valuable melee weapons in Old School RuneScape, because it can hit up to three times in a single attack against large monsters.

Equipment bonuses

Fully charged, the scythe has +125 slash attack and +75 strength — but its real power is the multi-hit passive. Uncharged it is far weaker, so it is almost always used charged.

How the scythe's triple hit works

Each swing covers a 1×3 arc in front of you, hitting up to three separate 1×1 enemies. Against a large monster the scythe instead lands multiple hits on it: a 2×2 monster (like Vardorvis) is hit twice, and a 3×3 or larger monster (like most dragons or Duke Sucellus) is hit three times. Each successive hit deals 50% less than the one before, so the scythe is at its best against 3×3+ targets that are weak to slash. Check its damage in the OSRS DPS calculator.

Charging the scythe

The scythe is charged at a vyre well in Ver Sinhaza (no quest needed) using vials of blood and blood runes — one vial plus 200 blood runes adds 100 charges, up to a maximum of 20,000 charges (about 16.7 hours of combat). One charge is used per attack that deals damage, and it reverts to its weaker uncharged form when empty. Uncharging at the well returns your blood runes and vials.

How to get the Scythe of Vitur

The scythe is a rare drop from the Theatre of Blood. The uncharged version is tradeable, so you can also buy it on the Grand Exchange (live price above) and charge it yourself — many players do, since it is one of the most expensive weapons in the game.
