Bonecrusher necklace

“A necklace made out of dragon bones, hydra tail and a bonecrusher.”

The Bonecrusher necklace joins a bonecrusher, a dragonbone necklace and a hydra tail into one item. It crushes bones from your kills automatically and restores Prayer points for each one, while saving the inventory slot the bonecrusher would take. It needs 70 Prayer, and its +12 prayer bonus ties with the dragonbone necklace for the highest in the neck slot.

Equipment bonuses

The neck bonuses match the dragonbone necklace: +10 to every attack style, +2 to every defence, +2 strength and +12 prayer. Those numbers came in the April 2021 rebalance. Before that the necklace had prayer bonus only.

How to get the Bonecrusher necklace

You combine three parts. The result is untradeable, but you can take it apart again.

Ways to obtain it
Bonecrusher — a reward from the hard Morytania Diary. Claim it from a ghost disciple at the Ectofuntus while wearing a ghostspeak amulet or Morytania legs.
Dragonbone necklace — dropped only by Vorkath. It is tradeable.
Hydra tail — dropped by hydras and the Alchemical Hydra. It is tradeable.
Combine them — use the parts on each other and confirm. Any charges on the bonecrusher move to the necklace.

Charges and Prayer restore

The necklace runs on ecto-tokens: each token gives 25 charges, and each crushed bone uses one. A cheap way to top it up is the free bonemeal and buckets of slime that Robin gives you each day after the hard Morytania Diary.

Each bone restores 1 to 5 Prayer points depending on the bone. Normal bones give 1, dragon, wyvern, drake and hydra bones give 4, and superior dragon bones give 5. It does not stack with the Catacombs of Kourend Prayer restore, and it does nothing for demonic ashes.

When it is in your inventory instead of worn, it behaves like a plain bonecrusher: Prayer experience, but no restore. You cannot own a bonecrusher and a bonecrusher necklace at the same time.

Is the Bonecrusher necklace worth it?

For Slayer and long PvM trips against monsters that drop bones, yes. You keep the +12 prayer of the Dragonbone necklace, get Prayer back on every kill, and free an inventory slot.

Its only offensive bonuses are +10 accuracy and +2 strength, so where damage matters more than Prayer, compare it with an offensive amulet first. See prayer gear and slayer gear for where it fits.
