Dragon boots

“These will protect my feet.”

Dragon boots are members' melee footwear requiring 60 Defence to wear. They give a +4 strength bonus — the third-highest of any boots in the game — alongside strong feet-slot defence (+18 crush, +17 slash, +16 stab). Dropped only by Spiritual mages in the God Wars Dungeon, they're a cheap, all-purpose melee staple that holds its spot long after the rest of your dragon gear is replaced. Roughly a quarter-million coins on the Grand Exchange.

Equipment bonuses

Dragon boots define the budget melee feet slot: +4 strength plus the best all-round feet defence at their price, with +18 crush, +17 slash and +16 stab defence.

How to get dragon boots

Dragon boots are a tertiary drop from Spiritual mages inside the God Wars Dungeon, at a rate of 1/128. Spiritual mages are best known for this drop and have fairly poor loot otherwise.

Because they're tradeable, most players simply buy them on the Grand Exchange instead of grinding the kills — check the live price and history above before you buy. They cannot be made with Smithing like most other dragon items.

Are dragon boots worth it & upgrades

For the price, dragon boots are one of the best-value melee gear pickups in the game. Their +4 strength is the third-highest of any boots, and they're cheap enough that players keep wearing them across all melee content long after other dragon armour is swapped out.

The direct upgrade is primordial boots, made by combining dragon boots with a primordial crystal (a rare drop from Cerberus); the upgrade needs 60 Runecraft and 60 Magic and adds more strength. For the highest feet-slot melee bonuses, avernic treads sit above both. Until you can afford those, dragon boots remain the sensible choice.
