The Elidinis' ward is a magic shield requiring 80 Magic, 80 Defence, and 80 Prayer to equip. It's a rare drop from the Tombs of Amascut raid, and unusually for an off-hand it adds offence as well as defence: +5 Magic attack, +3% Magic damage and +1 Prayer, on top of solid melee and ranged defences. On its own it's a respectable budget magic shield, but its real value is as the base for the fortified ward — the endgame magic shield. It trades at roughly 3.8M on the Grand Exchange.
Equipment bonuses
As a shield, the Elidinis' ward is built around its magic profile: +5 Magic attack and a rare-for-a-shield +3% Magic damage, plus +1 Prayer. It still defends well, with +9 Defence crush, +6 Defence ranged and +5 Defence stab.

Other bonuses
That +3% Magic damage bonus is what sets the ward apart from a plain defensive shield — it actively raises your spell damage while you wield it, and the Magic/Defence/Prayer 80 requirement keeps it firmly endgame.

How to get the Elidinis' ward
The Elidinis' ward is a rare unique reward from the Tombs of Amascut, the Kharidian raid released alongside the item on 24 August 2022. It once belonged to the goddess Elidinis, who entrusted it to Pharaoh Osmumten before disappearing to mourn her husband Tumeken.
You can't buy it from an NPC or make it from scratch — it only enters the game as a raid drop. When a raid rolls a unique, Osmumten's sarcophagus glows purple instead of white and the chosen player opens it; only one unique can drop per raid, if any. The ward shares the unique table with rewards like the Masori armour pieces, Osmumten's fang, the Lightbearer and Tumeken's shadow.
There is no single fixed drop rate: your chance of a unique scales with the Raid Level you set through the invocation system — higher raid levels raise both your overall loot and the odds of rolling a unique. If you'd rather skip the grind, it's tradeable on the Grand Exchange (buy limit 8 per 4 hours). See the Tombs of Amascut gear setup for what to bring.
Fortifying into the Elidinis' ward (f)
The tradeable ward is really the base item for an upgrade. Attaching an Arcane Sigil to it creates the Elidinis' ward (f) — the fortified ward — which carries much stronger bonuses and is one of the best magic shields in the game.
Fortifying requires level 90 Prayer, 90 Smithing and 10,000 soul runes, and grants 260 experience in both Prayer and Smithing. Unlike the arcane spirit shield, you cannot pay Abbot Langley to do this for you — you need the levels yourself (the required levels can be boosted). The Arcane Sigil itself is a rare Corporeal Beast drop, so this is an expensive endgame project.
The fortified ward is untradeable, which is why the price shown above is for the plain, uncharged Elidinis' ward. You can dismantle the fortified ward to recover the sigil and the base ward, but the 10,000 soul runes are lost in the process.
Is the Elidinis' ward worth it?
For most players the answer is: buy the base ward as a stepping stone, not as your final shield. In its uncharged form the ward's +5 Magic attack and +3% Magic damage make it a reasonable budget upgrade over no shield, but the arcane spirit shield still beats it on raw magic offence (+20 Magic attack, +3% Magic damage, +3 Prayer) for pure DPS.
Where the ward wins is its defensive spread and its upgrade path. Fortified into the Elidinis' ward (f), it becomes one of the strongest magic shields available — the version serious mages actually chase. So if you're working toward endgame magic gear, the tradeable ward is the cheap half of a much bigger investment; the soul runes, Arcane Sigil and 90/90 levels are the real cost.
If you only want a budget defensive shield and don't plan to fortify, weigh it against cheaper options first — at roughly 3.8M, you're partly paying for the upgrade potential. Compare it on the boss gear finder against the rest of your magic setup before committing.
Elidinis' ward FAQ
What level do you need for the Elidinis' ward?
You need 80 Magic, 80 Defence and 80 Prayer to equip it. Fortifying it into the Elidinis' ward (f) additionally needs 90 Prayer and 90 Smithing.
How do you get the Elidinis' ward?
It's a rare unique drop from the Tombs of Amascut raid — it appears in Osmumten's sarcophagus when a raid rolls a purple. There's no fixed rate; your unique chance scales with the Raid Level you set through invocations. It's also tradeable, so you can buy it on the Grand Exchange (limit 8 per 4 hours).
How much is the Elidinis' ward worth?
It trades for roughly 3.8M on the Grand Exchange. Live price and history are shown above. High alch is 3M and low alch is 2M.
Is the Elidinis' ward better than the arcane spirit shield?
In its uncharged form, no — the arcane spirit shield has more Magic attack (+20 vs +5) and more Prayer for offence. The ward's edge is its defensive stats and its upgrade: fortified, the Elidinis' ward (f) is one of the best magic shields in the game, which is the form most mages aim for.
How do you fortify the Elidinis' ward?
Attach an Arcane Sigil to it to create the Elidinis' ward (f). This requires 90 Prayer, 90 Smithing and 10,000 soul runes, and gives 260 experience in both skills. You can't pay Abbot Langley to do it — you need the levels yourself (they can be boosted).
Why is the fortified ward untradeable but the normal one isn't?
The base Elidinis' ward is tradeable, but once you fortify it the Elidinis' ward (f) becomes untradeable. That's why the Grand Exchange price shown here is for the plain uncharged ward. You can dismantle the fortified version to get the sigil and ward back, but the 10,000 soul runes are not returned.
Does the Elidinis' ward have a special attack?
No. It's a shield, not a weapon, so it has no special attack. Its value comes from its stats — +5 Magic attack, +3% Magic damage and +1 Prayer — and from being the base for the fortified ward.
Is the Elidinis' ward still good in 2026?
Yes, primarily as an upgrade base. The uncharged ward is a solid mid-tier defensive magic shield, and the fortified Elidinis' ward (f) remains one of the top magic shields for endgame mages. If you're building toward bossing or raids, it's a worthwhile long-term goal.
