Spectral spirit shield

The Spectral spirit shield is the prayer-protection version of the Corporeal Beast sigil shields. Its passive cuts most Prayer-draining attacks in half (outside player-versus-player fights), and its +30 magic defence is the highest of any shield in the game. It needs 75 Defence, 70 Prayer and 65 Magic, and you make it by attaching a spectral sigil to a blessed spirit shield.

Equipment bonuses

The defences are the same as the blessed spirit shield it is built from: +53 stab, +55 slash, +73 crush and +52 ranged, plus a +3 Prayer bonus. The part that is different is +30 magic defence. It has no attack or strength bonuses at all.

How to get the Spectral spirit shield

There are two parts: a spectral sigil, which only the Corporeal Beast drops, and a blessed spirit shield to attach it to. Both items are tradeable, so the shield itself can also be bought outright.

Ways to obtain it
Grand Exchange — the finished shield is tradeable, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.
Smith it yourself — use the sigil on an anvil with a hammer and a blessed spirit shield. It needs 90 Prayer and 85 Smithing and gives 1,800 Smithing experience.
Abbot Langley — if you lack the levels, he will do the attachment in the Edgeville Monastery for 1,500,000 coins.
Corporeal Beast — the source of the spectral sigil, which drops at 1/1,365 per kill.

Because the shield is made from two tradeable parts, you can compare the cost of the parts with the finished shield on the price tracker before you commit.

What the Spectral spirit shield passive does

While the shield is equipped, most attacks that drain your Prayer points drain half as much. This does not apply to attacks from other players.

Examples:

  • Cerberus's Summoned Souls drain 15 Prayer points instead of 30 (10 if you also use the Ward of Arceuus spell).
  • K'ril Tsutsaroth's prayer smash drains 25% of your current Prayer instead of 50%.
  • Prayer drain from successful hits at Nex is halved.
  • The steady Prayer drain at Barrows is halved.

It does not work against Smite, the Corruption status effect, the Sulphur Nagua special attack, the Deadly Prayers invocation in the Tombs of Amascut, or the Blasphemy modifier in the Fortis Colosseum.

Spectral vs Arcane vs Elysian spirit shield

All three are made the same way, from a blessed spirit shield plus a sigil from the Corporeal Beast. They differ in what they add on top.

  • Spectral — 75 Defence, 70 Prayer, 65 Magic. The Prayer-drain passive and +30 magic defence, with no attack bonus.
  • Arcane — 75 Defence, 70 Prayer, 65 Magic. +20 magic attack and a +3% magic damage bonus, but only +2 magic defence.
  • Elysian — 75 Defence, 75 Prayer. Higher defences than the other two (+63 stab, +65 slash, +75 crush, +57 ranged) and its own passive effect.

What levels do you need to wield the Spectral spirit shield?
75 Defence, 70 Prayer and 65 Magic. The levels needed to make it are higher (see below), but you can buy one and wear it with just these three.
How do you make a Spectral spirit shield?

Yes. It can be bought and sold on the Grand Exchange with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.
