Venator ring

“An occult ring that grants immense dexterity.”

The Venator ring is one of four ancient rings and the best-in-slot ranged ring in Old School RuneScape, giving +10 Ranged attack and +2 Ranged Strength — the only ring in the game to offer a ranged strength bonus. To wear it you must have killed the Leviathan at least once during Desert Treasure II. It's crafted from a Leviathan-only vestige rather than bought, and the tradeable ring sits around 40-50M on the Grand Exchange.

Equipment bonuses

The Venator ring's defining numbers are its +10 Ranged attack and +2 Ranged Strength bonus. That ranged attack edges out the imbued archers ring by +2, and the ranged strength is unique — no other ring grants it.

There is no level requirement to equip the ring beyond having killed the Leviathan once, so any account with a Desert Treasure II kill can slot it straight into a ranged setup.

How to get the Venator ring

The Venator ring is created, not dropped directly. You first need the venator vestige, an untradeable drop from the Leviathan at a rate of 1/768 per kill.

  • Combine the archer icon with the venator vestige to make a venator icon (you must first learn how from Peer the Seer).
  • Take the venator icon to a furnace with three chromium ingots and a ring mould to craft the ring.

Crafting needs level 90 Magic and 80 Crafting — both are boostable. If you'd rather skip the grind, the finished ring is tradeable, so you can buy it outright on the Grand Exchange.

Is the Venator ring worth it?

For ranged accounts, yes — it's the best ranged ring in the game. It's the only ring offering a Ranged Strength bonus (+2), and its +10 Ranged attack beats the imbued archers ring by +2. On high-accuracy, multi-target, or long ranged grinds that small strength bonus adds up.

That said, the gain over an imbued archers ring is modest, so it's an end-game polish rather than a must-buy upgrade. Mains chasing every point of DPS will want it; mid-game ranged accounts can comfortably run an imbued archers ring until then. Check your loadout against the boss gear finder to see whether the ring meaningfully moves your kill times.

Note the ancient rings, unlike the older Fremennik rings, cannot be imbued — what you see on the stats is what you get.

Venator ring FAQ

What are the requirements to wear the Venator ring?

You must have killed the Leviathan at least once during Desert Treasure II. There is no combat or Ranged level requirement to equip it. If you try to wear it without a Leviathan kill, the ring slips off your finger.

How do you get the Venator ring?

It's crafted from the venator vestige, an untradeable 1/768 drop from the Leviathan. Combine it with an archer icon to make a venator icon, then craft the ring at a furnace with three chromium ingots and a ring mould (needs 90 Magic and 80 Crafting). The finished ring is also tradeable on the Grand Exchange.

Is the Venator ring best in slot for ranged?

Yes. It has the highest Ranged attack bonus of any ring (+10) and is the only ring with a Ranged Strength bonus (+2), making it the best-in-slot ranged ring. See more options on the ranged gear page.

How much is the Venator ring worth?

The tradeable ring trades for roughly 40-50M on the Grand Exchange, well above its Grand Exchange guide value of 140K. Check the live price and history in the chart above or on the GE price tracker.

What levels do you need to make the Venator ring?

Crafting the ring requires 90 Magic and 80 Crafting. Both skills are boostable, so you can use stat boosts to meet the requirement. You also need to have learnt the recipe from Peer the Seer.

Does the Venator ring have a special attack?

No. The Venator ring is a passive equipment piece with no special attack — its value is purely in its ranged accuracy and strength bonuses.

Can the Venator ring be imbued?

No. Unlike the older Fremennik rings, the ancient rings — including the Venator ring — cannot be imbued. The stats shown are final.
