The Venator shard is a drop from the Phantom Muspah. You need five of them to combine into the Venator bow, a two-handed ranged weapon. This page is about the shard. The bow page covers the finished weapon.

What Venator shards make
Five shards combine into an uncharged Venator bow. The bow needs 80 Ranged to wield, fires any arrow, and has an attack range of 6.
Its main feature is a bounce. Once charged with ancient essence, an arrow can ricochet to up to two other nearby targets in a multi-combat area. That makes it a ranged option for groups of monsters.
There is a second use. A pestle and mortar breaks one shard into 50,000 ancient essence. Breaking a shard down is a loss against its Grand Exchange price, so it is not a way to make coins.
How to get Venator shards
The shard is a drop. Remember you need five, so the numbers add up.
The buy limit is 8, so you can buy all five shards in one 4-hour window. Compare the Grand Exchange price with the cost of farming the Muspah.
Are Venator shards worth keeping?
Keep them if you want the Venator bow. Shards stack, so you can hold them until you have five. If you want coins instead, the shard can be sold on the Grand Exchange.
The shard's own value was cut on 18 January 2023, from 3,000,000 to 150,000, a week after release. That number is the item value, not a market price.
