Eye of ayak

“This staff is imbued with demonic power.”

The eye of Ayak is a one-handed powered staff that requires 83 Magic to wield. It drops from the Doom of Mokhaiotl (delve level 3 and higher) and sits between the Sanguinesti staff and Tumeken's shadow in power — its max hit is lower, but it is the fastest powered staff in the game, firing every 3 ticks (1.8s).

Equipment bonuses

The eye of Ayak gives +30 Magic attack and a small prayer bonus. Like all powered staves it has its own built-in spell, so you don't equip runes for normal attacks — its max hit is ⌊Magic level ÷ 3⌋ − 6, climbing as your Magic level rises.

How the eye of Ayak works

The eye of Ayak's real strength is speed — at 3 ticks it attacks faster than every other powered staff (which fire at 4 or 5 ticks), so its lower per-hit max is offset by more hits. It is charged with death and chaos runes (2 death + 1 chaos per cast) or demon tears (1 per cast), holding up to 50,000 charges — about 25 hours of non-stop combat. You can uncharge it at any time to recover the runes or tears. If it's empty or charged with tears, it also passively gains 10–20 charges each time you defeat the Doom of Mokhaiotl. Check its damage in the OSRS DPS calculator.

Special attack — Soul Rend

Soul Rend costs 50% special-attack energy and fires as a slower 5-tick shot, but doubles your accuracy and raises the max hit by 30%. On a successful hit it drains the target's Magic Defence by the damage dealt — and because Magic Defence isn't a normal stat, NPCs can't restore it, so the drain sticks until the target dies. This makes it strong for setting up magic damage on high-Magic-Defence bosses.

How to get the eye of Ayak

The eye of Ayak is a drop from the Doom of Mokhaiotl, obtainable once you complete delve level 3 or higher. The uncharged staff is tradeable, so you can also buy one on the Grand Exchange (live price above) and charge it yourself. It can be dismantled for 10,000 demon tears.
