Ancient effigy

“A mysterious artifact of ancient times, very precious to emblem traders.”

The Ancient effigy is a rare drop from revenants in the Revenant Caves, a dungeon in the Wilderness. You can sell it to the Emblem Trader for 8,000,000 coins, or break it into 16,000 revenant ether with a chisel. It is always lost on death, so the main risk is carrying it out of the caves alive.

How to get an Ancient effigy

It only comes from revenants and bounty crates, and it is a pure luck drop.

Ways to obtain it
Revenants — every revenant type and revenant maledictus can drop it. Each has one rate without a skull and a better one while skulled. Examples: revenant dragons, knights and maledictus 1/8,000 unskulled and 1/4,400 skulled, revenant imps 1/44,000 and 1/24,200, and revenant pyrefiends and hobgoblins 1/12,560 and 1/6,908.
Bounty crates — tier 1 to 9 bounty crates drop it at 4/1,000.
Grand Exchange — it is tradeable, with a buy limit of 250 every 4 hours.

The high-risk PvP world skull does not count for the better rate. The Revenant Caves are inside the Wilderness, from level 17 to 40, so other players can attack you there.

What you can do with an Ancient effigy

There are two uses. The first is to hand it to the Emblem Trader in the Revenant Caves for 8,000,000 coins. This has to be done while on the official Bounty Hunter world, and you cannot give it to him in Edgeville.

The second is to use a chisel on it to break it into 16,000 revenant ether. This was added on 9 July 2025.

Revenants also drop the ancient relic, a more valuable artefact: the Emblem Trader pays more for it than for an effigy, and a chisel breaks it into more revenant ether.

The effigy is always lost on death, even if it is the only item you carry.

Is the Ancient effigy worth it?

You are risking your gear in the Wilderness to find one. Revenant rates run from 1/4,400 to 1/44,000, so hunting one is a long-term plan, not a quick drop.

The Emblem Trader payout of 8,000,000 coins is a fixed number. Compare it with the Grand Exchange price to see which way is better to sell it. The chisel route gives revenant ether instead of coins.

If you are heading to the caves, bring only what you can afford to lose.
