Armadyl godsword

“A beautiful, heavy sword.”

The Armadyl godsword is a two-handed slash weapon known for its special attack, The Judgement, which hits far harder than a normal swing. It needs 75 Attack, swings every 6 ticks, and shares its stat line (+132 slash, +80 crush, +132 strength) with the other four godswords. The hilt, not the blade, is what makes this one different.

Equipment bonuses

All five godswords (Armadyl, Bandos, Saradomin, Zamorak and Ancient) share the same numbers: +132 slash attack, +80 crush attack, +132 strength and +8 Prayer, with no defence bonuses. The weapon speed is 6 ticks, so it is slow, and the damage comes from the strength bonus and the special.

How to get the Armadyl godsword

You can build it from drops or buy it ready-made. Building needs the godsword shards, 80 Smithing and the Armadyl hilt.

Ways to obtain it
Godsword shards — drops from bosses and their minions in the God Wars Dungeon. Kree'arra drops each shard at 1/762.
Godsword blade — smith the three shards together at an anvil with 80 Smithing. The step also gives Smithing experience.
Armadyl hilt — a rare drop from Kree'arra at 1/508. Use it on the finished blade.
Grand Exchange — the finished godsword is tradeable, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.

Because every godsword blade is the same, you can change the hilt later without losing the blade.

The Armadyl godsword's special attack

The Judgement uses 50% of special attack energy, so you get two per full bar. It does three things:

  • it doubles the accuracy of the swing;
  • it multiplies the maximum hit by 1.1 and then by 1.25, which works out to about 37.5% more than a normal max hit;
  • it always rolls against the target's slash defence.

Because the special is built for one big hit, it is used as a finisher. In PvP it is used as a finishing blow on an injured player. In PvM it is used at bosses like General Graardor to land one large hit.

Armadyl godsword compared with the other godswords

All five godswords (Armadyl, Bandos, Saradomin, Zamorak and Ancient) have the same bonuses, so the question is which special you want. The Bandos godsword uses Warstrike to drain the target's Defence, which helps against high-Defence bosses. The Saradomin godsword uses Healing Blade to restore Hitpoints and Prayer, which helps on long trips where you want to save food and prayer potions. The Armadyl godsword is the burst option.

A godsword is often carried as a switch for its special attack rather than as the main weapon. To compare your own setup, run the numbers in the DPS calculator.

Armadyl godsword FAQ

What level do you need for the Armadyl godsword?
75 Attack, the same as every other godsword. There is no quest requirement.
How do you make the Armadyl godsword?
Use an Armadyl hilt on a completed godsword blade. The blade is smithed from the three godsword shards at an anvil, which needs 80 Smithing. The hilt drops from Kree'arra.
What does The Judgement special attack do?
It uses 50% of your special attack energy. It doubles your accuracy and multiplies your max hit by 1.1 and then 1.25, which works out to about 37.5% more than a normal max hit. It always rolls against the target's slash defence.
Armadyl godsword or Bandos godsword?
The stats are identical, so the choice is the special. The Bandos godsword uses Warstrike, which drains the target's Defence. The Armadyl godsword's special is aimed at one large hit.
Armadyl godsword or Saradomin godsword?
The Saradomin godsword has the same stats, with a Healing Blade special that restores your Hitpoints and Prayer. The Armadyl godsword is the one built for raw burst damage.
Does the ornament kit change the Armadyl godsword's stats?
No. The Armadyl godsword ornament kit, which comes from master clue scrolls, changes the look only. It also makes the weapon untradeable, but you can dismantle it to get the godsword and the kit back.
Can you swap the hilt on a godsword?
Yes. Hilts can be removed after they are attached, with no Smithing requirement, and changing the hilt changes only the special attack. The stat bonuses stay the same.
Which attack styles does the Armadyl godsword use?
It uses the 2h sword styles. The accurate style attacks with slash, since a 2015 change moved it from crush to slash to match the weapon's higher slash bonus.
