These are the most valuable items in Old School RuneScape, ranked by live Grand Exchange and street-market prices. Almost every one is a 3rd age reward from clue scrolls — the rarest drops in the game — alongside a few best-in-slot raids weapons. Several trade so high they break the game's 2,147M gp coin cap and can only change hands player-to-player.

Counting down to the most expensive — #1 is at the bottom

3rd Age Druidic Cloak
The 2019 cloak that finishes the druidic set. No stats, pure collection — and the cheapest way into 3rd age druidic ownership.
Master clue scroll
3rd Age Bow
Also from the 2014 launch set and long outclassed as a weapon. Its value is heritage — one of the earliest 3rd age items in the game.
Elite & master clue scroll
3rd Age Longsword
One of the original 2014 3rd age drops, from elite and master clues. It rarely sees real combat — owners are collectors chasing prestige rather than damage.
Elite & master clue scroll
Scythe of Vitur
A top-tier melee weapon that can strike up to three times in a single swing against large targets. Dropped from the Theatre of Blood and charged with vials of blood and blood runes; the price shown is the tradeable uncharged form.
Theatre of Blood
Twisted Bow
The premier ranged weapon at the top end, released in 2017 from the Chambers of Xeric. Its damage and accuracy climb the higher the target's Magic level, making it devastating in raids and against high-magic bosses.
Chambers of Xeric
3rd Age Druidic Robe Top
The centrepiece of the 3rd age druidic set, added in the 2019 Treasure Trails expansion. It gives no combat bonus and is one of the hardest master-clue rewards to roll — a fashion trophy trading above the max-cash cap.
Master clue scroll
3rd Age Druidic Robe Bottoms
The lower half of the 2019 druidic set, rolling from the same master-clue table as the top and just as cosmetic. A staple pickup for collectors completing the look.
Master clue scroll
3rd Age Axe
A 2016 master-clue cosmetic that chops at dragon-axe speed. Players wear it while woodcutting purely for the flex — there is no stat gain over an axe worth a tiny fraction as much.
Master clue scroll
3rd Age Felling Axe
The newest 3rd age piece, introduced with 2023's Forestry update and made by combining a 3rd age axe with a felling axe handle. Unlike the rest, it is genuinely usable — 65 Attack and 61 Woodcutting to wield.
Built from a 3rd age axe (Forestry)
3rd Age Pickaxe
The single most valuable item in the game — and it mines no faster than a dragon pickaxe. Added in 2016 and pulled only from master Treasure Trail caskets, its price is pure scarcity.
Master clue scrollItems marked Over max cash trade above the 2,147M gp Grand Exchange cap, so no single GE price exists — those figures are our own street-market estimates (shown as a range), and where we have none the cap is a floor (the true value is higher). Exact values and ordering among them can shift.
Why these items cost so much
Two forces set the price: scarcity and demand. The 3rd age set drops only from hard, elite and master clue scrolls at brutal rates, and most pieces give no combat edge over far cheaper gear — they are pure collector and fashion items. The Twisted Bow and Scythe of Vitur are the exception: they are best-in-slot raids weapons, so their value comes from performance, not rarity alone.
Why some prices break the cap
A single coin stack in OSRS maxes at 2,147,483,647 gp, and the Grand Exchange is capped there too. Items worth more than that — like the 3rd age pickaxe — can't show a real GE price, so they trade hand-to-hand and the figures above the cap are our street-market estimates. You can follow live prices any time with our GE price tracker.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most expensive item in Old School RuneScape?
The 3rd age pickaxe. It trades above the game's 2,147,483,647 gp cash cap — our street-market estimate is roughly 8.5–9.4 billion gp — even though it mines no faster than a dragon pickaxe. It drops only from master Treasure Trails.
What are the rarest items in OSRS?
The 3rd age equipment set. Every piece is a reward from hard, elite or master clue scrolls at extremely low drop rates, which is why most of this OSRS ranking is 3rd age gear rather than combat weapons.
What is the hardest item to get in OSRS?
Among the hardest are the master-clue 3rd age pieces — the pickaxe, axe and druidic robes come only from completed master Treasure Trails, which are themselves rare and lengthy to finish.
What is the most expensive free-to-play item in OSRS?
Free-to-play's priciest items are the discontinued holiday rares — party hats and santa hats. Unlike in RuneScape 3, these trade for only tens of thousands of gp in Old School RuneScape (around 20,000–30,000 each), a tiny fraction of the members-only 3rd age and raids items on this list.
How often do these OSRS prices update?
Daily. This page refreshes from our live price feeds. Items above the cash cap trade hand-to-hand between players, so those figures are street-market estimates and can move often.
