Book of law

“The book of Armadyl's Law.”

The Book of Law is Armadyl's god book, worn in the shield slot. A completed book gives +10 ranged attack and +5 Prayer with no level requirement, which makes it an easy ranged off-hand for accounts that cannot yet use a heavy ranged shield. You unlock it through Horror from the Deep and then fill it with four Armadyl pages.

Equipment bonuses

The completed book gives +10 ranged attack and +5 Prayer. It has no defence, strength or magic bonuses. If you do not have all four pages, you hold a damaged book instead, and that gives only the Prayer bonus.

No level requirement to wear · shield slot · members · not tradeable. It needs Horror from the Deep to get started, and four Armadyl pages to complete.

How to get the Book of Law

You cannot buy the finished book. You unlock it, then complete it.

Ways to obtain it
Horror from the Deep — finish this quest first. It needs 35 Agility (boostable) and Alfred Grimhand's Barcrawl.
Jossik — at the Lighthouse, he sells the incomplete Armadyl book for a one-off 5,000 coins.
Four Armadyl pages — buy them from other players, or get them from Treasure Trails. Add all four to finish the book.

If you lose the book, Jossik replaces it free with its pages kept. Perdu does the same for 14,000 coins.

Where the Book of Law fits

The finished book is a low-requirement ranged off-hand. It has no level requirement, so a ranger who cannot meet the Defence or Ranged levels for a heavy shield can still carry +10 ranged attack and +5 Prayer.

It also counts as an Armadyl item in the God Wars Dungeon. Browse ranged gear to see what sits in the other slots around it.

Book of Law versus other ranged shields

Four off-hand items have more ranged attack than the book. The Twisted buckler has the most, with +18 ranged attack. The Dragonfire ward has +15, the Odium ward +12 and the Aquanite hopper +12. The Book of Law gives +10.

The difference is what you must do to wear them. The book has no skill requirement. The buckler needs 75 Ranged and 75 Defence, and the Dragonfire ward needs 70 Ranged, 75 Defence and Dragon Slayer I started.

The other god books share the same +5 Prayer. They differ in what else they give: Armadyl's gives +10 ranged attack, Saradomin's gives +8 to every defence, and Zamorak's gives +8 to every attack style, including +8 ranged attack.

Book of law FAQ

How do you get the Book of Law?
Finish Horror from the Deep, then talk to Jossik at the Lighthouse and pay a one-off 5,000 coins to unlock the Armadyl book in its incomplete form. After that you fill it with all four torn Armadyl pages.
Where do you get the Armadyl pages?
You can buy them from other players, or get them from Treasure Trails. There is also an item set of all four pages.
What are the stats of the Book of Law?
+10 ranged attack and +5 Prayer. Everything else is zero. The Antler guard gives +9 Ranged attack and the same +5 Prayer bonus, but it lowers all your defence bonuses.
What level do you need to use the Book of Law?
None. There is no skill requirement to wear it. The only gate is having done Horror from the Deep, which needs 35 Agility (boostable) and Alfred Grimhand's Barcrawl.
Is the Book of Law good for ranged?
It is an easy pick with no skill requirement. It ranks fifth for ranged attack among off-hand items. Stronger shields exist, such as the Twisted buckler (75 Ranged and 75 Defence) and the Dragonfire ward (70 Ranged, 75 Defence and Dragon Slayer I started), but they ask for much higher levels.
What happens if I lose my Book of Law?
Jossik will give it back, with all the pages you added, for free. If you do not want to travel to the Lighthouse, Perdu returns it for 14,000 coins.
What does preaching with the Book of Law do?
It lets you recite blessings, last rites and wedding rites. It has no effect on gameplay and costs 25% of your special attack energy.
Does the Book of Law work in the God Wars Dungeon?
Yes. It counts as an Armadyl item there.
