Darklight

“The magical sword 'Silverlight', enhanced with the blood of Agrith-Naar.”

Darklight is the demonbane sword you get when Silverlight kills Agrith-Naar in the quest Shadow of the Storm. Against normal monsters it is a weak sword, but against demons it gets about 60% more accuracy and damage. Its real job today is as the step before Arclight, and its special attack lowers a target's Attack, Strength and Defence.

Equipment bonuses

On paper the stats are modest: +16 slash, +10 stab and +13 strength on a 5-tick swing, close to a steel longsword with a little magic defence. The demonbane bonus is not in this table. It is applied only when you hit a demon.

How to get Darklight

Darklight only comes from the quest, and it cannot be traded.

Ways to obtain it
Shadow of the Storm — needs 30 Crafting and the quests Demon Slayer and The Golem. You bring Silverlight, and it becomes Darklight when you finish off Agrith-Naar, a level 100 demon.
Sir Prysin — if you lose it after the quest, he sells a replacement for 1,000 coins. He only offers this if you do not already have Silverlight or one of its upgrades.

Demonbane and the Weaken special

Against demons, Darklight works as if your accuracy and max hit were about 60% higher. Some demons change that number. Duke Sucellus, for example, takes only 70% of the demonbane effect. Darklight also counts as silver, so it can damage tier 2 vampyres and deals 10% more damage to tier 1 vampyres.

The special attack, Weaken, costs 50% energy. On a successful hit it lowers the target's Attack, Strength and Defence by 5% + 1, or 10% + 1 against demons. The accuracy roll is against stab defence, and repeated hits stack additively.

Darklight, Arclight and Emberlight

Darklight is the base for a stronger demon sword. Take it and three ancient shards to the altar in the centre of the Catacombs of Kourend to make Arclight. Arclight needs 75 Attack, has a stronger demonbane effect and swings at 4 ticks instead of 5.

Arclight can later become Emberlight. If you are below 75 Attack, Darklight is still a cheap demon weapon to bring. For general sword choices, see melee gear.
