Glacial temotli

“It's clobbering time.”

The glacial temotli is a two-handed crush weapon from Varlamore: The Rising Darkness (released 25 Sep 2024) that needs 55 Attack to wield. It swings on a 4-tick cycle (2.4s) for +72 crush and +64 strength, but its real trick is being a multi-hit weapon: every attack lands two independently-rolled hits, which shines against monsters with negative armour. It's a rare drop from Amoxliatl and Frost Nagua in the Ruins of Tapoyauik, and on the Grand Exchange it usually sells for around 80K coins.

Equipment bonuses

The glacial temotli's defining numbers are its +72 crush attack and +64 strength bonus, paired with a 4-tick attack speed (one hit every 2.4 seconds). It needs 55 Attack to wield.

It also gives a small +11 stab and +2 Prayer, but offers no defensive bonuses — this is a pure offensive 2h crush weapon, and its strength comes from splitting that damage across two rolls per swing.

How to get the glacial temotli

The glacial temotli is a rare drop from two monsters inside the Ruins of Tapoyauik in Varlamore, both of which are part of the Varlamore: The Rising Darkness content:

  • Amoxliatl — drops it at a rate of 1/100.
  • Frost Nagua — drops it at a rate of about 1/500.

Because it's fully tradeable, most players simply buy it off the Grand Exchange rather than farm the drop. You can also check where it slots into setups with the boss gear finder or browse other melee gear.

How the multi-hit mechanic works

The glacial temotli is a multi-hit weapon: every attack performs two independently-rolled hits instead of one. The game works out your combined max hit as normal, then splits it in half across the two hits. If that combined max hit is an odd number, one hit rounds up and the other rounds down — for example a combined max of 45 becomes a 22 and a 23.

This matters most against monsters with negative flat armour (such as Nagua), because every successful hit applies that extra damage, so two hits stack the bonus twice. It shares this behaviour with its slash sibling, the sulphur blades, and its stab sibling, the earthbound tecpatl — the glacial temotli is the crush member of the trio.

Glacial temotli FAQ

What level do you need for the glacial temotli?

You need 55 Attack to wield it. There are no other skill requirements.

How do you get the glacial temotli?

It's a rare drop from Amoxliatl (1/100) and Frost Nagua (about 1/500) in the Ruins of Tapoyauik. Since it's tradeable, you can also just buy it on the Grand Exchange.

What is the glacial temotli's special attack?

It has no special attack. Its standout feature instead is its passive multi-hit effect — every swing lands two independently-rolled hits.

Is the glacial temotli good?

It's a niche but useful crush weapon. The two-hit mechanic makes it strong against monsters with negative flat armour (like Nagua), where both hits get the extra damage. Outside that niche, a single big-hit weapon is often simpler, so it's a situational pick rather than an all-rounder. See more options in melee gear.

How much is the glacial temotli worth?

It trades for roughly 80K coins, but prices move — check the live price and history chart above for the current value.

What's the difference between the glacial temotli, sulphur blades and earthbound tecpatl?

They're the three multi-hit weapons from the same content. The glacial temotli is the crush version, the sulphur blades are slash, and the earthbound tecpatl is stab. All three split their damage across two rolls per attack.
