Brown apron

“A mostly clean apron.”

The Brown apron is the cheapest way through the door of the Crafting Guild. It is a free-to-play body slot item with no combat bonuses, and it is sold in clothing shops for 2 coins. You need it, or an alternative, only to get through the guild door, together with 40 Crafting.

Equipment bonuses

Every bonus in the table is zero. The apron is worn for its Crafting Guild entry use, not for stats, and it sits in the body slot.

How to get a Brown apron

The apron costs almost nothing, and there is more than one way to get one.

Ways to obtain it
Clothing stores — several sell it for 2 coins, such as Thessalia's Fine Clothes in the centre of Varrock.
Player-owned house — a tool store 3, built in the Workshop, holds one. If your house is in Rimmington it is a short walk to the guild.
Malignius Mortifer — members can claim one from him after finishing the Swan Song quest.
Grand Exchange — it is tradeable, with a buy limit of 40 every 4 hours.

Entering the Crafting Guild

To enter the guild you need 40 Crafting and one of four things worn: a brown apron, a golden apron, a Crafting cape, or a max cape (or a variant). The wearable only matters at the door. Once you are inside you can take it off.

Inside you will find potter's wheels, a pottery oven, a tanner and spinning wheels. The guild also has its own mine with gold, silver and clay rocks. It has the highest concentration of these rocks available to free players.

To get there faster, use a Skills necklace, a Crafting cape, or a Max cape to teleport to the guild.

Is the Brown apron worth it?

Yes, if you want into the guild before you have a Crafting cape. At 2 coins from a shop it is one of the cheapest pieces of gear in the game, and it has the same door use as the golden apron.

It is not a gear upgrade. The body slot is better filled with real armour for combat, so wear the apron for the door and swap back. For armour choices see best in slot gear.
