Justiciar legguards

“A Justiciar's platelegs. Their once bright colours have since faded.”

The Justiciar legguards are the leg piece of the Justiciar armour, a rare drop from the Theatre of Blood that needs 75 Defence. They are worn for defence rather than damage: +95 stab, +92 slash, +93 crush and +102 ranged defence, with no strength bonus at all. The full set cuts the damage you take outside PvP.

Equipment bonuses

This is a pure tanking piece. The defence numbers are +95 stab, +92 slash, +93 crush and +102 ranged, plus +4 Prayer. The price is steep penalties on offence: −31 magic and −17 ranged attack, and −14 magic defence. There is no melee attack or strength bonus.

How to get Justiciar legguards

The legguards only enter the game from the Theatre of Blood, so every pair in circulation started as a raid unique.

Ways to obtain it
Theatre of Blood — the Monumental chest in Verzik Vitur's vault. A unique reward is rolled first (1/9.1 in normal mode with no deaths, 1/7.7 in hard mode), then the legguards are picked at 2/19 (normal) or 2/18 (hard). Deaths lower the chance of a unique.
Grand Exchange — tradeable, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours. This is the usual route if you are not raiding.

The other two pieces, the Justiciar faceguard and Justiciar chestguard, come from the same table, so a full set is three separate drops or three separate purchases.

Where the Justiciar legguards are used

The Justiciar set has very high melee and ranged defence, which is why it appears in tank setups. It is used for K'ril Tsutsaroth (melee tank), and for Dagannoth Kings in both the ranged setup and the Rex-only magic setup.

It also counts as a Saradominist item in both God Wars Dungeons. You can keep the set in the armour case of a player-owned house costume room, but Ultimate Ironmen cannot take out single pieces until the full set is stored.

Are Justiciar legguards worth it?

Only if you value defence over damage. The legs have no strength bonus and heavy offensive penalties, so you deal less damage and take less.

For tanking jobs the full set is the point. For a plain damage-dealing setup, Bandos tassets or Torva platelegs are the legs to compare. The full set needs three pieces.

Justiciar legguards FAQ

What level do you need for Justiciar legguards?
75 Defence. There is no other level or quest requirement.
How do you get Justiciar legguards?
They are a rare drop from the Theatre of Blood. You can also buy them on the Grand Exchange, where the buy limit is 8 every 4 hours.
What is the drop rate for Justiciar legguards?
The raid first decides whether you get a unique at all: 1/9.1 in normal mode with no deaths, or 1/7.7 in hard mode. Once a unique is given, the legguards are 2/19 of the normal mode table and 2/18 of the hard mode table. Entry mode gives no unique roll.
What does the Justiciar set effect do?
It is one of three pieces. Worn with the faceguard and chestguard, the damage you take outside PvP is reduced.
Do Justiciar legguards work on their own?
You still get the defence bonuses from the single piece, but the damage reduction needs all three pieces. Alone they are mainly a high-defence leg slot with no strength bonus.
Justiciar legguards or Bandos tassets?
Bandos tassets give +2 strength and need only 65 Defence, but their defences are lower (+71 / +63 / +66 melee, +93 ranged). The Justiciar legs trade the strength bonus for more defence and a Prayer bonus of +4 against the tassets' +1.
Justiciar legguards or Torva platelegs?
Torva platelegs give +4 strength and +87 / +78 / +79 melee defence for 80 Defence. The Justiciar legs have higher defence in every melee style and the same +102 ranged, but zero strength. Torva is the choice when you want damage, Justiciar when you want to take less.
