Ava's accumulator is the mid-tier Ranged back-slot device. It needs 50 Ranged, gives +4 Ranged attack, and picks up your fired ammunition so you spend less of it. About 72% of shots are recovered, and it comes from the Animal Magnetism quest. The next device up is Ava's assembler at 70 Ranged.
Equipment bonuses
The cape is small on stats: +4 Ranged attack, +4 magic defence and +1 slash defence. The point is the ammunition saving, not the bonuses, and it has no Ranged Strength.
Requires 50 Ranged to wear · cape slot · members · not tradeable. The standout feature is the ammunition recovery rather than the +4 Ranged attack shown above.
How to get Ava's accumulator
You cannot trade for it. You earn it through a quest, then pay Ava if you need to replace or upgrade it.
You can own more than one Ava's device at the same time.
How Ava's accumulator works
When you fire ranged ammunition, the accumulator picks it back up. Of your shots, 72% are recovered automatically, 8% drop on the floor and 20% break on impact. It covers arrows, bolts, darts, javelins, throwing knives, throwing axes and toktz-xil-ul, but not ammunition that is always used up, such as chinchompas.
Do not wear metal torso armour. The magnet is disrupted by most melee body armour and by Ahrim's robetop, and the effect stops. Some body armour does not interfere.
It also pulls in a steel item roughly every 3.5 minutes while you are moving. Use Commune on the cape, worn or in your inventory, if you do not want those items.
The accumulator can also be used on Lanthus in the Castle Wars lobby and Nomad in the Soul Wars lobby to switch on its effect inside those minigames.
Accumulator vs the other Ava's devices
There are three Ava's devices. They differ in level and in how much ammunition they save.
- Ava's attractor — 30 Ranged, 60% recovered, +2 Ranged attack.
- Ava's accumulator — 50 Ranged, 72% recovered, +4 Ranged attack.
- Ava's assembler — 70 Ranged, 80% recovered, +8 Ranged attack and +2 Ranged Strength.
Upgrade when you meet the level and have the materials. The assembler also needs a Vorkath's head, so the accumulator is the device to use until you can meet both. For other back-slot and gear choices see ranged gear and best in slot gear.
