What this plan doesn't count
  • Your own pace. Fish, scatters, points and minutes per game are our estimates from the OSRS Wiki strategy guides. Type your own points and minutes above.
  • Failed games. If the storm wins you lose that game's points.
  • Waiting for a mass world boat. Solo players can Quick-Start the next game.
  • Boosts. Permits and pool fish use your base level.
  • Cooking XP, Construction XP from repairs and Magic XP from Humidify.
  • Casket contents and unique drops in the gp value.
  • A second big harpoonfish. If you already have one, the game gives 25 soaked pages instead.
How this is worked out
  • XP per action: catch = M ÷ 100, crate = M ÷ 10, spirit pool scatter = M × 11 ÷ 100, where M = 450 + 550 × (level − 35) ÷ 64 below level 70 and 890 + 110 × (level − 70) ÷ 29 from 70, rounded down (OSRS Wiki).
  • Points: catch 5, cook 10, deposit raw 20 or cooked 65, scatter 55, fire or repair 40, wave 10. Permits: 1 at 2,000 points, +1 per 700, and the remainder as a chance of one more.
  • Fish and scatters per game: our fit to the Wiki strategy figures (for example 57 fish and 24 scatters for solo firefighting). On mass worlds they scale with your catch chance.
  • Harpoons: the Wiki XP-an-hour tables as a ratio over the regular harpoon. Crystallised fish can't be cooked, so with cooking they score as raw.
  • Each search adds 10 Fishing XP. Pool drops: OSRS Wiki reward pool tables; quantities are range midpoints.
  • GE prices: OSRS Wiki real-time prices, instant-sell side, each with its own trade time, after the 2% GE tax.

About Tempoross

Tempoross is a Fishing boss at the Ruins of Unkah, south of the Kharidian Desert. You need Fishing 35 and no quest. You catch harpoonfish, cook them if you play for points, and load them into the cannons to drain its energy. Then you harpoon the spirit pool to drain its essence. Points become reward permits, and each permit is one search of the reward pool: fish, spirit flakes, soaked pages, caskets and the rare uniques. Play solo or join a mass world; solo cooking with firefighting gives the most permits a game, and solo raw fishing with a crystal harpoon the most XP.

The Fishing calculator compares Tempoross with other Fishing methods by level, and the Fishing training guide covers the route to 99. The skilling gear page lists the angler's outfit.

Tempoross FAQ

How many reward permits do you get from Tempoross?

None below 2,000 points. At 2,000 points you get 1 permit, then 1 more for every 700 points: 2,700 points is 2, 3,400 is 3 and 4,100 is 4. Points between two steps give a matching chance of one extra permit, so 4,450 points is 4 permits and a 50% chance of a 5th. You lose the points if the storm wins.

How much Fishing XP does Tempoross give per fish?

It depends on your base Fishing level. At level 35 a catch gives 4.5 XP, each fish into the ammunition crate 45 XP and each spirit pool scatter 49.5 XP. At level 99: 10, 100 and 110 XP. The crate gives the most, cooked or raw, so cooking costs time rather than XP per fish. Each reward pool search adds 10 Fishing XP.

How many Tempoross games does 50 to 99 Fishing take?

About 1,830 games on a mass world while cooking, with a regular harpoon and no angler outfit: about 215 hours and 9,200 reward permits. These are averages from the OSRS Wiki rate tables; your own pace and world change them. Enter your level above for your own number.

Is solo or mass Tempoross better for permits?

Solo, if you play for points. Solo cooking with firefighting averages about 12,200 points, 16 permits a game, in about 12 minutes. A mass world with cooking gives about 4,000-5,000 points. For XP, solo without cooking is fastest: the OSRS Wiki gives about 100,000 XP an hour with a crystal harpoon near 99, but only about 4 permits a game.

How many permits for the Tiny tempor pet?

The pet is 1 in 8,000 per permit, and it comes from the reward pool, not from the boss. Half of players have it by 5,545 permits. After 8,000 permits the chance is 63%; there is no guarantee. The dragon harpoon has the same rate, the tome of water and big harpoonfish are 1 in 1,600, and the fish barrel and tackle box 1 in 400.

Do reward pool fish depend on my Fishing level?

Yes. The fish come from your base Fishing level when you search the pool, not when you earned the permit. Below 40 you catch herring to tuna; from 81 bass, swordfish, shark, sea turtle and manta ray. Saving permits until a higher level gives better fish. Uniques do not change with level.
