The Boots of lightness are an untradeable pair of boots that cut 4.535 kg of carried weight while worn. They give only +1 stab, slash and crush defence, so the reason to wear them is weight, not protection. You pick them up from the Temple of Ikov dungeon and you do not need to start the quest.
Equipment bonuses
The defensive numbers are tiny: +1 stab, +1 slash and +1 crush defence. All other bonuses are 0. The weight cut, not the stats, is the draw.
No requirements to wear · feet slot · members. Standout feature: they reduce your weight by 4.535 kg while worn. The +1 defences shown above are minor.
How to get the Boots of lightness
You do not need to buy these. They sit on the floor of a dungeon cellar and respawn.
You can take them without starting the Temple of Ikov quest.
What the Boots of lightness are used for
The boots cut 4.535 kg of weight while worn, which is their only real job. They are untradeable, so they are safe to use in the Wilderness.
They suit any setup where weight matters and the feet slot has nothing better. They give almost no defence, so once you want protection, move on. See gear progression for the steps up.
Boots of lightness vs Graceful boots
The boots of lightness cut 4.535 kg. The Graceful boots cut 4 kg and add a 3% bump to run energy restoration. That bump grows to 30% when you wear the whole Graceful outfit.
So the choice depends on the outfit. If you have the full Graceful set, wear its boots. If you do not, the boots of lightness are the free option. When you assemble the set piece by piece with a Spottier cape available, buy the Graceful boots second to last.
