Revenant Ork Strategy Guide

Revenant ork Guide

The revenant ork is a combat level 105 revenant that inhabits the Revenant Caves, a PvP-enabled section of the Wilderness. With 105 Hitpoints and a max hit of 20, it is the strongest of the common revenants and the most rewarding to camp, with four orks per spawn cluster below level 30 Wilderness. Like all revenants it attacks with all three combat styles, reacts to your overhead prayers, and can heal itself when below half health, so the fight is as much about prayer discipline and a charged bracelet of ethereum as it is about raw damage. The real challenge is not the ork itself but the player killers who patrol the caves looking for loot.

Where to fight & requirements

Revenant orks live in the Revenant Caves, located in singles-plus Wilderness between level 17 and 40. There is no Slayer level or quest requirement to attack them, and they can be assigned as a Slayer task by Turael, Spria, Mazchna, or Krystilia, giving 115 Slayer experience per kill. The whole area is Wilderness, so other players can attack you here, and it is a popular spot for them to do so.

The Wiki Strategies page suggests roughly 60+ Attack, Strength and Ranged, 40+ Defence, and 45+ Prayer (for Protect from Magic, Protect from Missiles, Protect from Melee and Protect Item). High Agility (75+, or 70 with a Summer pie) is optional but strongly recommended, as it unlocks the cave's escape shortcuts. Without it, stick to the lower-level entrances, which have safer escape options.

The bracelet of ethereum

A charged bracelet of ethereum should be worn at all times. For each attack a revenant makes, the bracelet reduces that damage by 75%, consuming one charge per attack. The bracelet is charged with revenant ether, which every revenant is guaranteed to drop, and you can toggle it to absorb dropped ether automatically. Two things to remember: the bracelet does not stop the freeze from a revenant's magic attack, and it is always lost on death. Because of that, only load a modest amount of charge before a trip — the Wiki recommends giving it around 100 charges (a bracelet with as little as 50 ether will suffice), and keeping spare bracelets and ether in the bank.

Recommended gear & supplies

The meta style here is ranged — it offers strong DPS against revenants with less gear, and dragonhide adds ranged accuracy while giving the magic defence you want against both the orks and PKers. Melee is a tankier alternative, while magic is rarely used due to its poorer DPS and defensive bonuses, despite revenant orks having a 30% elemental weakness to air spells (so if you do bring magic, use the strongest air spell you can cast). For exact loadouts at your stats and budget, use our Boss Gear Finder above rather than copying a fixed list.

For the amulet slot, the amulet of avarice is the most powerful option, matching a Salve amulet (ei) and amulet of glory in one — but it keeps you skulled, raising your risk. Since revenants are undead, a salve amulet and its variants also work if you would rather not skull. Keep your risk low: bring only three valuable items (four with Protect Item), wear the bracelet, and always carry a way out, such as a royal seed pod or charged dragonstone jewellery that can teleport you at level 30 Wilderness or below.

Bring blighted super restores to counter Magic drain, plenty of Saradomin brews for combo healing and escaping PKers, good food such as sharks or better, combination food like cooked karambwan, a looting bag, and a Ranging potion if ranging. The Wiki notes revenants drop blighted food as a tertiary drop, which helps extend trips.

Fight mechanics

Three attack styles. Revenants use Slash (melee), Ranged and Magic, all with very high accuracy. By default they open with Magic, then quickly adapt to your defensive bonuses and prayers — so they will switch styles to punish whatever you are not protecting against.

The magic attack & freeze. Their magic attack resembles a weaker Ice Barrage: it can momentarily freeze you for several seconds and hits up to nine other players standing on the same tile as the target. Protect from Magic should be on almost all the time, since Magic is their most accurate style — it also halves teleblock duration and reduces incoming Ice Barrages from PKers.

Self-healing. Whenever a revenant drops below 50% health it can heal 20 Hitpoints at a time. It is guaranteed a heal if it attacks while below half HP and the heal is off cooldown; after healing it cannot heal again for 15 ticks (9 seconds). A single revenant can only heal a random 8 to 25 times before it can no longer heal, so sustained DPS will eventually outpace it.

Strategy & handling PKers

The orks themselves are straightforward — they deal minor damage and respawn quickly (every 27 ticks). The real skill is surviving player killers. Keep Protect from Magic and Protect Item up, and don't overbrew, so you keep enough inventory space to combo-eat. When a PKer engages, the Wiki's tank approach is to switch to Dinh's bulwark, tank legs and a phoenix necklace; often they give up at that point.

If you get teleblocked, you have three broad escapes: outrun them (high magic defence plus Augury covers ground while they splash freezes), fight back with a ranged weapon and well-timed Vengeance plus a strong special to make them think twice, or freeze-logout by entangling or barraging them, breaking line of sight, and waiting out the 10-second logout timer. Avoid skulling unless you deliberately want the avarice noted-drop benefit. Be aware a revenant maledictus can spawn in larger chambers while you kill revenants; if you don't intend to fight it, leave, as it hits hard and draws attention.

Notable drops

Every revenant is guaranteed to drop revenant ether, which recharges your bracelet of ethereum mid-fight. The marquee uniques are the revenant (Wilderness) weapons — drops that dramatically increase kills per hour but require 1,000 ether to charge — and additional amulets of avarice. A January 2018 update also added Ancient Statuettes to the drop table. Staying skulled (via the amulet of avarice) gives many drops in noted form and an increased chance to roll a Wilderness weapon or another avarice. See the full drop table above for rates and the complete loot list.

Common mistakes

  • Skimping on the bracelet, or forgetting it doesn't block freezes. It cuts 75% of damage but not the magic freeze — and it's lost on death, so don't overcharge it.
  • Praying the wrong overhead. Revenants adapt to your prayers; keep Protect from Magic up since Magic is their most accurate style.
  • Over-risking. Limit yourself to three valuable items (four with Protect Item). The caves are a hotspot for PKers.
  • Overbrewing. Drinking too many Saradomin brews drains your other stats and wastes inventory you'll want for combo-eating against PKers.
  • Skulling without meaning to. The amulet of avarice keeps you skulled for 20 minutes after unequipping — only use it if you've accepted the extra risk.

Revenant ork Guide — FAQ

Do I need a Slayer level or quest to kill revenant orks?

No. There is no Slayer or quest requirement. They can be assigned as a Slayer task by Turael, Spria, Mazchna or Krystilia, giving 115 Slayer experience per kill.

What is a bracelet of ethereum and do I really need one?

Yes — it's strongly recommended. A charged bracelet reduces each revenant attack's damage by 75% and is charged by revenant ether, which they're guaranteed to drop. Note it does not stop their magic freeze and it's always lost on death, so only give it a modest charge (around 100) before a trip.

Why do revenant orks heal, and how do I deal with it?

When a revenant drops below 50% health it can heal 20 Hitpoints at a time, with a 9-second cooldown between heals. It can only heal a random 8 to 25 times total, so consistent damage will eventually outpace the healing and finish the kill.

What's the best gear style for revenant orks?

Ranged is the meta — it gives strong DPS with less gear and adds magic defence against both the orks and PKers. Melee is a tankier option, while magic is rarely used due to weaker DPS and defence. Use the Boss Gear Finder above for a loadout matched to your stats and budget.
