The Dexterous prayer scroll is a reward from the Chambers of Xeric that unlocks the Rigour prayer when you read it. Rigour is the ranged prayer upgrade, and the scroll is the only way to get it. You need no skill level to read the scroll, but the prayer itself needs 74 Prayer and 70 Defence.

What the Dexterous prayer scroll unlocks

Reading the scroll teaches you Rigour, the ranged prayer. Rigour gives +20% ranged attack, +23% ranged strength and +25% defence. To use the prayer you need 74 Prayer and 70 Defence. To read the scroll you need no skill level at all.

The scroll is used up when you read it, and the unlock is permanent after that. If you already know Rigour, reading another one only tells you there is nothing more to learn.

The scroll only changes what you can switch on. The ranged weapons and armour are separate, so pair it with your ranged gear and check the options on the prayer gear page.

How to get the Dexterous prayer scroll

The scroll is a Chambers of Xeric reward, and it is tradeable.

Ways to obtain it
Chambers of Xeric — a possible unique from the Ancient chest. When a unique is rolled, the scroll has a weight of 14/60 in normal mode and 12/56 in Challenge Mode.
Grand Exchange — buy limit 5 every 4 hours.

The Chambers of Xeric also has an arcane prayer scroll, which unlocks Augury. Since 26 January 2017 the two scrolls have been separate items.

Is the Dexterous prayer scroll worth it?

The scroll is a one-time purchase that unlocks a permanent prayer, so the question is whether Rigour matters to your ranged setup. If you use ranged for bossing or for Chambers of Xeric itself, the extra ranged damage and defence are the main reason to want it.

If you only train ranged at low levels, you do not need it yet. Rigour needs 74 Prayer and 70 Defence anyway, so there is no use in having the scroll before then.
