Dragon darts are a thrown dart with +35 ranged strength and a 60 Ranged requirement. Their main job today is as ammunition inside a Toxic blowpipe, where they set the blowpipe’s damage. You can also throw them by hand. They are stackable and tradeable.

Equipment bonuses

The only bonus is +35 ranged strength. They have no ranged attack bonus, so accuracy comes from your gear. They attack at 3-tick speed with a range of 3 squares.

How to get Dragon darts

You can buy them or make them.

Ways to obtain it
Grand Exchange — they are tradeable with a buy limit of 11,000 every 4 hours.
Fletching — needs 95 Fletching. Add feathers to dragon dart tips, 10 at a time, for 250 experience per set. The tips cannot be smithed.
Dragon implings — a possible drop.

You can poison them with weapon poison, but a blowpipe takes unpoisoned darts only. Fletching some dragon darts in the Bedabin Camp is part of the Elite Desert Diary.

Using Dragon darts

The usual place for a dragon dart is a Toxic blowpipe. The blowpipe adds its own +20 ranged strength to the dart’s, so a dragon dart in a charged blowpipe gives +55 ranged strength. The blowpipe takes unpoisoned darts and Zulrah’s scales, and holds up to 16,383 of each.

You can also throw them by hand. They are one-handed, so you can wear a shield or a god book. Thrown by hand, only the dart’s own +35 strength applies. For the best Ranged setups, see ranged gear.

Dragon darts or lower darts?

Each tier up gives a small step in damage:

  • Rune darts — 40 Ranged, +26 ranged strength.
  • Amethyst darts — 50 Ranged, +28 ranged strength.
  • Dragon darts — 60 Ranged, +35 ranged strength.

The jump from amethyst to dragon is +7 strength. Dragon darts cost more than the lower tiers. If you are under 60 Ranged, amethyst darts are the next best choice. There is no upgrade above dragon darts in the dart family.
