The Magic stone is the material for the highest-level Construction and Sailing builds. It goes into player-owned house items such as the Demonic throne (99 Construction, 25 stones) and the Crystal throne (95 Construction, 15 stones), and into boats and island bank chests. A Stonemason in Keldagrim sells it, and it is also tradeable.
What Magic stones are used for
Almost every use is a Construction build, most of them late-game. The stones are spent per item, so the total depends on what you are making.
Magic stones needed per build
Demonic throne — 99 Construction, 25 stones, 25,000 XP.
Crystal throne — 95 Construction, 15 stones, 15,000 XP.
Skeleton throne — 88 Construction, 5 stones plus 4 marble blocks, 5 bones and 2 skulls.
Greater magic cage — 89 Construction, 4 stones. Lesser magic cage — 82 Construction, 2 stones.
Crystalline portal nexus — 92 Construction, 2 stones. Magic chest — 91 Construction, 1 stone.
Crystal extractor (boat facility) — 73 Sailing and 67 Construction, 2 stones. Bank chest (island amenity) — 70 Construction, 1 stone.
Altars — the Ancient, Dark and Lunar altars at 80 Construction each take 1 stone, and the Consecrated and Desecrated houses use 1 each.
The Sailing use covers boats and the bank chests on islands reached through Sailing.
How to get Magic stones
Two shops sell the Magic stone, and it is tradeable.
Ways to obtain it
Stonemason in south-western Keldagrim — sells it for 975,000 coins each, with a stock of 10.
Metla in Stonecutter Outpost — the same price and stock of 10.
Grand Exchange — tradeable, buy limit 11,000 every 4 hours.
Is it worth buying Magic stones?
Only if you are building something that needs them. They have no use outside Construction and Sailing, and a throne can take 15 or 25 at a time, so the price per stone matters for the whole build.
The shop price is fixed, so you can compare the Grand Exchange price against it.
