The magus ring is one of four ancient rings from Desert Treasure II, and it carries the highest magic attack bonus of any ring in the game at +15 magic attack plus +2% magic damage. It sits at the very top of the magic ring tier, edging out the imbued seers ring by +3 attack. There is no equip-level requirement, but you must have killed Duke Sucellus at least once to wear it, and crafting it needs 90 Magic and 80 Crafting. It is built from a magus vestige dropped by Duke Sucellus, and currently trades for roughly 28M on the Grand Exchange.
Equipment bonuses
The magus ring is a pure magic offensive ring. Its defining bonus is +15 magic attack — the highest of any ring in Old School RuneScape, three points above the imbued seers ring — paired with a +2% magic damage bonus.

Other bonuses
It carries no defensive bonuses and no melee or ranged stats, so it is worn purely for magic offence. There is no equip-level requirement to wear it, but you must have at least one Duke Sucellus kill on record.

How to get the magus ring
The magus ring is a crafted item, not a direct drop. The whole chain starts with the magus vestige, an untradeable drop from Duke Sucellus in Desert Treasure II at an effective rate of 1/720 per kill. (On the awakened version of the fight you roll the unique drop table at 1/30 instead of the normal 1/90, so vestiges come far faster.)
- First, learn how to combine ring icons from Peer the Seer in Rellekka.
- Use a seers icon on the magus vestige to make a magus icon.
- Take the magus icon to a furnace with three chromium ingots and a ring mould to craft the ring.
Crafting requires level 90 Magic and 80 Crafting — both are boostable. Because the ring is fully tradeable, you can also simply buy a finished one off the Grand Exchange for around 28M instead of grinding Duke for the vestige yourself.
Is the magus ring worth it?
If you are serious about magic, yes. The magus ring is the best-in-slot ring for magic accuracy and damage, with +15 magic attack and +2% magic damage. No other ring comes close — the imbued seers ring gives +12 magic attack and only +0.5% damage, and the regular seers ring +0.2%.
That said, a ring is a small slice of total magic gear. The +3 attack and extra ~1.5% damage over an imbued seers ring is a marginal upgrade for most accounts, so it mainly matters at the high end — Tombs of Amascut, the Theatre of Blood, and other content where every point of magic damage is squeezed out. For more casual mage training it is a luxury rather than a need. Plan the rest of your loadout with the magic gear guide and the boss gear finder before deciding the ring is your bottleneck.
Magus ring FAQ
What level do you need for the magus ring?
There is no Magic level requirement to wear the magus ring — you only need to have killed Duke Sucellus at least once. To craft it yourself you need level 90 Magic and 80 Crafting (both boostable).
How do you get the magus ring?
It is crafted, not dropped directly. You combine a seers icon with a magus vestige (an untradeable drop from Duke Sucellus, effective rate 1/720) to make a magus icon, then smelt that at a furnace with three chromium ingots and a ring mould. You can also just buy a finished ring on the Grand Exchange.
Is the magus ring the best magic ring in OSRS?
Yes. At +15 magic attack and +2% magic damage it is the strongest magic ring in the game, beating the imbued seers ring by +3 attack and offering a larger damage bonus.
How much is the magus ring worth?
The magus ring trades for roughly 28M on the Grand Exchange. The exact price moves with demand — check the live chart above or the GE price tracker.
What is the magus vestige drop rate from Duke Sucellus?
The magus vestige drops at an effective rate of 1/720 per kill on the standard fight. On the awakened version of Duke Sucellus the unique drop table is rolled at 1/30 instead of 1/90, so vestiges come much more often.
Can the magus ring be imbued?
No. Unlike the older Fremennik rings, the ancient rings — including the magus ring — cannot be imbued. The magus ring already carries its full +15 magic attack and +2% magic damage without any imbue.
Do you need to finish Desert Treasure II to use the magus ring?
No. Despite some pre-release wording, you do not need to complete Desert Treasure II — you only need at least one Duke Sucellus kill on record to equip the ring.
