Torva full helm

“An ancient warrior's full helm.”

The Torva full helm is the head piece of the Torva armour set, needing 80 Defence. It has the highest Strength bonus of any helmet at +8, ahead of the Neitiznot faceguard and serpentine helm, plus a standout +57 Ranged defence. It can't be bought outright — it's created by combining a damaged Torva full helm dropped by Nex with a Bandosian component via level 90 Smithing — see the live Grand Exchange price & history chart above for its current value.

Equipment bonuses

The Torva full helm leads all helmets with a +8 Strength bonus, backed by +59 stab, +60 slash and +62 crush defence and a notably high +57 Ranged defence for a melee helmet.

It also adds a rare +1 Prayer bonus for a melee helmet, but carries no attack bonuses of its own and a -5 Magic / -5 Ranged attack penalty, since it's pure defensive armour behind the steep 80 Defence requirement.

How to get the Torva full helm

The Torva full helm never drops as a finished item. It is created by combining a damaged Torva full helm with a Bandosian component, a process that requires level 90 Smithing (boostable) and is not reversible once done.

  • Damaged Torva full helm — dropped by Nex in the God Wars Dungeon.
  • Bandosian component — the second material consumed by the recipe.

Since the finished helm is tradeable, most players skip farming the components altogether and buy it directly on the Grand Exchange, subject to a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.

Is the Torva full helm worth it?

For raw stats it's the strongest helmet in the game — its +8 Strength bonus beats every other helm, including the Neitiznot faceguard and serpentine helm, and its melee defence sits near the top of the class too. It slots naturally into the rest of the Torva armour set for players who already meet the 80 Defence requirement and want the most Strength a helmet can give.

The catch is price and requirement: at 80 Defence and a price that puts it firmly in late-game territory (see the live Grand Exchange price & history chart above), it's a late-game purchase rather than a stepping-stone piece. Players who haven't hit that Defence level, or don't need the last couple of Strength points, are usually better served by cheaper melee gear like the Neitiznot faceguard until they can afford the full Torva set.

Torva full helm FAQ

What level do you need for the Torva full helm?

You need 80 Defence to equip it. There's no other skill requirement to wear it, though creating it from its components requires 90 Smithing.

How do you get the Torva full helm?

It isn't dropped as a finished item. You combine a damaged Torva full helm, dropped by Nex, with a Bandosian component using level 90 Smithing. Since it's tradeable, you can also just buy the finished helm on the Grand Exchange.

Is the Torva full helm the best helmet in OSRS?

For Strength, yes — it has the highest Strength bonus of any helmet, two points above the Neitiznot faceguard and three above the serpentine helm. Its melee defence is also among the best in slot.

How much is the Torva full helm worth?

It's one of the highest-priced items on the Grand Exchange — check the live price and history chart above for the current figure.

Does the Torva full helm degrade?

No. Unlike the original RuneScape version, which degraded over roughly 15 hours of combat, the Old School RuneScape version of the Torva full helm does not degrade.

What does Torva armour do in the God Wars Dungeon?

Torva armour, including the full helm, is Zaros-aligned, and wearing it grants protection from Zarosian monsters within the God Wars Dungeon.

Can you alch the Torva full helm?

Yes — high alchemy gives 120K and low alchemy 80K, but its Grand Exchange price is far higher (see the live Grand Exchange price & history chart above), so alching it would be a massive loss. Sell it on the GE instead.
