The Virtus mask is the head piece of the Virtus robes, a rare drop from the four Desert Treasure II bosses. It needs 78 Magic and 75 Defence, and gives +8 magic attack and a +2% magic damage bonus. That bonus rises to 5% on this piece when you cast Ancient Magicks spells, which is the reason mages look at it.

How to get the Virtus mask

The mask is a boss drop with no crafting route, and each of the four Desert Treasure II bosses can drop it.

Ways to obtain it
The Whisperer — 1/1,536.
Duke Sucellus — 1/2,160.
The Leviathan — 1/2,304.
Vardorvis — 1/3,264.
Grand Exchange — tradeable, buy limit 8 every 4 hours.

The other pieces of the Virtus robes drop from the same bosses, so a full set means several separate drops or purchases.

Where the Virtus mask is used

It is a magic helm for Ancient Magicks casters. The Virtus robes are used in magic setups for K'ril Tsutsaroth, Commander Zilyana, Kree'arra, Skeletal Wyvern, Mithril dragon and the TzHaar Fight Cave.

It also protects you from Zaros followers in the Ancient Prison part of the God Wars Dungeon. For more head, body and leg options for casters, see magic gear.

Is the Virtus mask worth it?

It is a reasonable upgrade if you cast Ancient Magicks spells, because the bonus on this piece goes from 2% to 5%. If you mostly use standard spells, the Ancestral hat gives 3% flat on any spell, and it needs a lower Defence level (65 against 75).

The mask is tradeable, so it has a Grand Exchange price. The mask is a rare drop with rates between 1/1,536 and 1/3,264, so compare that price with the Ancestral hat before you buy.
