Berserker necklace

“Makes obsidian weapons even stronger!”

The berserker necklace is the obsidian-combat amulet: worn with a Toktz-xil-ak, Tzhaar-ket-om, Tzhaar-ket-em, or Toktz-xil-ek it boosts your melee damage by +20%, and that bonus stacks on top of the full obsidian armour set, a slayer helmet, and Void. The trade-off is steep — -10 to all melee accuracy and -20 to every defence — so it is a pure glass-cannon piece for TzHaar weapons only. Created by casting Lvl-6 Enchant (87 Magic) on an onyx necklace; it trades around 2.8M on the Grand Exchange.

Equipment bonuses

The berserker necklace carries small raw bonuses — +7 melee strength and +3 Prayer — but its real value is a hidden +20% damage multiplier on obsidian melee weapons that never shows in the bonus table. There is no level requirement to wear it.

How to get the Berserker necklace

The berserker necklace is not a drop — it is created by enchantment. You take an onyx necklace and cast the Lvl-6 Enchant spell on it, which requires 87 Magic (boostable) and grants 97 Magic experience. Each cast costs 1 cosmic rune, 20 fire runes and 20 earth runes (or the appropriate staff to cut the elemental cost).

Because the onyx itself is expensive, most players simply buy the finished necklace off the Grand Exchange for roughly 2.8M rather than gathering an onyx and enchanting it. If you would rather buy it, the live price and history are shown above.

How the +20% obsidian boost works

The necklace increases the damage you deal by 20% while wielding one of the four obsidian melee weapons: the Toktz-xil-ak (obsidian sword), Tzhaar-ket-om (obsidian maul), Tzhaar-ket-em (obsidian mace), or Toktz-xil-ek (toktz). It does nothing for any non-obsidian weapon.

Crucially, this bonus stacks with the other obsidian multipliers: the full obsidian armour set (helmet, platebody, platelegs), a slayer helmet when on-task, and Void Knight equipment. Layering necklace + armour set + slayer helm turns a cheap obsidian maul into a surprisingly strong budget weapon. The flip side is the necklace's -10 melee accuracy and -20 defence across the board, so you trade tankiness and hit-chance for raw damage.

Is the Berserker necklace worth it?

It is worth it only if you are using an obsidian melee weapon. For a TzHaar maul or sword build — popular as a cheap, accuracy-independent option for tasks and low-level bossing — the +20% damage and stacking obsidian/slayer/Void synergy make it a clear best-in-slot neck. For literally any other weapon it is a downgrade: you lose accuracy and defence and gain nothing, so a damage amulet like the amulet of fury or torture (or the salve amulet against undead) will outperform it.

Think of it as a specialist piece: keep one in the bank for obsidian setups, and swap it out the moment you pick up a non-obsidian weapon. If you are building melee gear more broadly, see our melee gear guide and the boss gear finder for what to pair with it.

Berserker necklace FAQ

What does the Berserker necklace do?

It boosts your melee damage by +20% while you are wielding an obsidian melee weapon (Toktz-xil-ak, Tzhaar-ket-om, Tzhaar-ket-em, or Toktz-xil-ek). The boost stacks with the obsidian armour set, a slayer helmet, and Void Knight equipment.

Which weapons does the Berserker necklace work with?

Only the four obsidian melee weapons: the Toktz-xil-ak (sword), Tzhaar-ket-om (maul), Tzhaar-ket-em (mace), and Toktz-xil-ek (toktz). It gives no damage bonus with any non-obsidian weapon.

How do you make a Berserker necklace?

Cast the Lvl-6 Enchant spell on an onyx necklace. This needs 87 Magic (boostable) and costs 1 cosmic rune, 20 fire runes and 20 earth runes per cast, giving 97 Magic experience.

Is there a level requirement to wear the Berserker necklace?

No. There is no skill requirement to equip it — any member can wear it. The 87 Magic requirement only applies if you want to enchant one yourself rather than buy it.

How much is a Berserker necklace worth?

It trades for around 2.8M on the Grand Exchange. Its high alchemy value is 121.2K. The live price and chart are shown above.

Does the Berserker necklace lower your stats?

Yes. In exchange for the damage boost it carries -10 to all melee accuracy and -20 to every defensive stat (stab, slash, crush, magic and ranged defence). It does add a small +7 strength and +3 Prayer.

Is the Berserker necklace still good?

Yes, for obsidian builds it remains the best neck slot because nothing else boosts obsidian weapons. But it is purely situational — for any normal weapon a fury or torture is far better, so only wear it with a TzHaar maul, sword, mace, or toktz.
