The Masori chaps are the standard (unfortified) leg piece of the Masori ranged armour from the Tombs of Amascut. They need 80 Ranged and only 30 Defence, and they carry the highest ranged attack bonus of any legs item. The fortified version, Masori chaps (f), adds defence and a Prayer bonus but needs 80 Defence.

Equipment bonuses

The headline number is +27 ranged attack, with +2 ranged strength on top. Defences are modest by comparison: +26 stab, +24 slash, +29 crush, +19 magic and +22 ranged. The only penalty is −2 magic attack, and there is no Prayer bonus on this version.

How to get the Masori chaps

The chaps only enter the game through the Tombs of Amascut, but they are tradeable.

Ways to obtain it
Grand Exchange — the practical route for most players, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.
Tombs of Amascut — a rare unique from Osmumten's sarcophagus. A raid gives at most one unique, and when the sarcophagus glows purple instead of white, a unique has been rolled.

The unique chance is 1% for every 10,500 − 20 × raid level reward points, using the scaled raid level, capped at 55% per raid. Once a unique rolls, the chaps are one of seven possible drops, with a weight of 2/24.

What the Masori chaps are used for

They are ranged leg armour. The Masori set is the best ranged armour in the game for attack bonuses, and, unlike the Armadyl set, it has no melee accuracy penalty. The standard set asks for 80 Ranged and 30 Defence, which makes it open to accounts that do not have high Defence.

The other use is as the base for an upgrade: three Armadylean plates, made by chiselling Armadyl armour at 90 Crafting, turn these into the fortified chaps. An Armadyl chainskirt gives three plates when chiselled, which is exactly enough for one pair of chaps.

Masori chaps vs the alternatives

Against the fortified chaps: the standard version has +27 ranged attack and +2 ranged strength too, so the attack side is identical. What you give up is defence (+26 stab here, +35 on the fortified) and the +1 Prayer bonus. You gain a 30 Defence requirement instead of 80.

Against the Armadyl chainskirt: the chaps win on offence (+27 ranged attack, +2 ranged strength, no melee penalty). The chainskirt wins on raw defence in every column, and needs 70 Defence.

Masori chaps FAQ

What levels do you need for Masori chaps?
80 Ranged and 30 Defence. The fortified version raises the Defence requirement to 80.
How do you get Masori chaps?
They are a rare unique reward from the Tombs of Amascut, opened from Osmumten's sarcophagus. They are also tradeable, so you can buy them on the Grand Exchange (buy limit 8 every 4 hours).
How likely are Masori chaps from the Tombs of Amascut?
It is two steps. First the raid has to roll a unique at all: a 1% chance for every 10,500 minus 20 times the scaled raid level in reward points. If it does, the chaps have a weight of 2/24 among the uniques at the base rate, and the weighting shifts above raid level 300.
Masori chaps or Masori chaps (f)?
The fortified chaps have better defences (+35 stab, +30 slash, +39 crush, +46 magic, +37 ranged) and a +1 Prayer bonus, with the same ranged attack and strength. The cost is the 80 Defence requirement and 90 Crafting plus three Armadylean plates to make them.
How do you fortify Masori chaps?
Use a hammer to combine the chaps with three Armadylean plates. It needs 90 Crafting, which can be boosted, and it is not reversible.
Masori chaps or Armadyl chainskirt?
The chaps have the higher ranged attack (+27 against +20) and a +2 ranged strength bonus the Armadyl chainskirt lacks, and no melee attack penalties. The chainskirt has the higher defences (for example +34 crush and +40 magic against +29 and +19), and needs 70 Defence and 70 Ranged.
Can you wear Masori chaps with a low Defence level?
Yes, down to 30 Defence, as long as you have 80 Ranged. That low Defence requirement is the main reason to pick the standard chaps over the fortified ones.
Are Masori chaps tradeable?
Yes. They trade on the Grand Exchange, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours.
