The Armadyl chainskirt is the leg piece of the Armadyl ranged armour, a God Wars Dungeon drop from Kree'arra and his bodyguards. It needs 70 Defence and 70 Ranged, gives +20 ranged attack with solid defences, and is light at 1 kg. It can also be chiselled into three Armadylean plates, which are used to fortify Masori armour.

Equipment bonuses

Ranged attack is +20, with no ranged strength bonus. The defences are the useful part: +32 stab, +26 slash, +34 crush, +40 magic and +33 ranged, plus +1 Prayer. The cost is a melee attack penalty of −6 on each style and −10 magic attack.

How to get the Armadyl chainskirt

The chainskirt comes from the God Wars Dungeon, and it is tradeable, so you can also buy it on the Grand Exchange.

Ways to obtain it
Grand Exchange — buy limit 8 every 4 hours.
Kree'arra — the chainskirt drops at 1/381, or 1/127 for any of the three Armadyl armour pieces.
Kree'arra's bodyguards — Wingman Skree, Flockleader Geerin and Flight Kilisa. Flight Kilisa drops the chainskirt at 1/16,129.

Where the Armadyl chainskirt is used

It is ranged leg armour. The Armadyl set compares favourably with Karil's armour (better ranged attack, better defence, and it does not degrade) and beats void ranged armour against targets with high Defence or high Ranged bonuses. The one drawback is the negative melee bonuses.

The second job is as a source of plates. A chisel and 90 Crafting turn the chainskirt into three Armadylean plates, the exact amount needed to fortify one pair of Masori chaps. That is a one-way trade: the chainskirt is destroyed.

Armadyl chainskirt vs Masori chaps

The standard Masori chaps are better for attack: +27 ranged attack and +2 ranged strength against the chainskirt's +20 and 0, and no melee penalty. The chainskirt is better on defence in every column (for example +34 crush against +29, and +40 magic against +19).

The chainskirt needs 70 Ranged and 70 Defence. The standard chaps need 80 Ranged but only 30 Defence. The fortified Masori chaps beat the chainskirt on defence as well, but need 80 Defence. If you are choosing for offence, the Masori set is ahead. See ranged gear for the full slot-by-slot picture.

Is the Armadyl chainskirt the same as the old Armadyl plateskirt?
Yes. It was renamed in June 2014 so it would not be confused with the separate Armadyl god-trimmed rune plateskirt.
Does the Armadyl chainskirt degrade?
No. The Armadyl set does not degrade, so it needs no repairs, unlike Karil's armour.
Armadyl chainskirt or Masori chaps?
The Masori chaps have higher ranged attack (+27 against +20) and +2 ranged strength, with no melee penalty. The chainskirt has higher defence in every column. It needs 70 Ranged and 70 Defence, while the standard chaps need 80 Ranged and 30 Defence.
What can you make from an Armadyl chainskirt?
Use a chisel on it at 90 Crafting to get three Armadylean plates. That gives 630 Crafting experience. Three plates are what it takes to fortify one pair of Masori chaps.
Why does the Armadyl chainskirt hurt melee accuracy?
It has a −6 attack bonus on stab, slash and crush. This makes the Armadyl set a poor fit where you switch between ranged and melee, such as at bloodvelds or the Thermonuclear smoke devil.
Do you need the full Armadyl set?
No. Every piece asks for the same 70 Defence and 70 Ranged, so you can wear them one at a time. The set is the helmet, the Armadyl chestplate and this chainskirt.
