Grand Exchange price history
The Oathplate chest is body armour from the Oathplate armour set, requiring 78 Defence. It's the only body slot item with an attack slash bonus (+16), aside from the Bounty Hunter-only Vesta's chainbody, backed by +105 stab, +128 slash, +100 crush, and +112 Ranged defence. It drops from Yama or is forged via Smithing. As a Zamorak-aligned piece it grants Zamorakian protection in the God Wars Dungeon.
Equipment bonuses
The Oathplate chest carries heavy melee defence — +105 stab, +128 slash, and +100 crush — plus +112 Ranged defence and a +16 attack slash bonus, a stat body armour rarely carries.

It also has -16 Magic attack, -18 Ranged attack, -5 Magic defence, and a +4 Strength bonus, behind its 78 Defence requirement.
How to get the Oathplate chest
The Oathplate chest drops directly from Yama at a rate of 1/600, and it's a guaranteed reward from the Yama Contract. It's also listed as a reward from the Forgotten lockbox at a rate of 1/403.
It can also be forged via Smithing: combine 9 Infernal plates into the finished chest at level 83 Smithing (boostable), using a hammer at an anvil in the Chasm of Fire. The total material cost for those 9 plates is 2,520 crushed infernal shale and 450 oathplate shards.
Is the Oathplate chest worth it?
The Oathplate chest is the only body slot item with an attack slash bonus, aside from Vesta's chainbody, which is restricted to Bounty Hunter. That +16 slash bonus, combined with +105 stab, +128 slash, +100 crush, and +112 Ranged defence, makes it a heavy option for melee setups behind the 78 Defence requirement.
As a Zamorak-aligned piece, it also grants Zamorakian protection within the God Wars Dungeon.
Oathplate armour and the Ancient Forge
The Oathplate chest can be broken down at the Ancient Forge inside the Ancient Prison in the God Wars Dungeon, yielding 50 oathplate shards — the same shards used, alongside crushed infernal shale, to forge Infernal plates for smithing a new piece.
This breakdown option was added on 22 May 2025, letting players recycle a spare Oathplate chest into shards toward building a different armour piece.
