What's the fastest way to train Firemaking in OSRS?
Burning the highest-tier logs you can afford — redwood logs reach around 430k XP/hr — is the fastest straight Firemaking. Many players instead train at Wintertodt, which is a bit slower but gives rewards and cheap supplies rather than burning gold.
Is Firemaking a waste of money?
Burning logs the normal way does cost gold with nothing to show for it, which is why it has a reputation as a money-sink. Wintertodt fixes that by handing out loot crates, so most players who care about cost train there instead.
Can you train Firemaking in free-to-play?
Yes — lighting logs works in F2P, working up from regular logs to yew. There's no Wintertodt in free-to-play, so it's pure log-burning, but the skill is cheap to start and quick at low levels.
