How to make a Ruby necklace

You craft it, or buy one that someone else crafted.

Ways to obtain it
Crafting — use a gold bar and a ruby with a necklace mould at a furnace. It needs 40 Crafting and gives 75 Crafting experience per necklace.
Grand Exchange — it is tradeable, with a high buy limit of 18,000 every 4 hours.

It is not members-only, so you can make and trade it without membership.

What a Ruby necklace is used for

The main use is enchanting. With the Lvl-3 Enchant spell (49 Magic) a ruby necklace becomes a Digsite pendant. Before you can cast it, you have to learn the enchantment from an archaeologist at the Varrock Museum. After The Dig Site quest, you clean finds at the museum's specimen table until you get a clean necklace (a 1/51 chance per find), then hand it to an archaeologist.

The Digsite pendant has 5 charges and crumbles when they are gone. Each charge teleports you to the north of the Digsite. After Bone Voyage you can add a teleport to the House on the Hill on Fossil Island, and after Dragon Slayer II one to Lithkren. The pendant needs the Dig Site quest.

Is the Ruby necklace worth it?

Not for wearing. It has no bonuses at all, so it is only a Crafting product or a stepping stone.

For a usable neck slot, members can look at something like the Amulet of glory. It has no requirement to wear, gives offensive and prayer bonuses, and has teleports. The ruby necklace is still a fair thing to craft for Crafting experience, and you can check the price tracker before you decide what to craft.
