The Snapdragon seed is a herb seed you plant in a herb patch at 62 Farming. It grows into grimy snapdragon, the herb used for super restore potions and Sanfew serums. It is a stackable, tradeable seed that comes from monster drops, seed packs and master farmers, and how much it earns depends on how well you protect the patch from disease.

How to get Snapdragon seeds

The seed has many sources, mostly rare drops, so it is usually simpler to buy a stack than to farm for one.

Ways to obtain it
Grand Exchange — the seed is tradeable and stackable, with a buy limit of 200 every 4 hours.
Monster drops — a long list of monsters drop it. Examples: Dark beast 1/113.6, Aberrant spectre 1/159.6, Turoth 1/169.8, Dagannoth 1/168.5 and Kurask 1/195.9.
Boss and chest rewards — Hespori gives it at 2/80, and the Brimstone chest and Larran's big chest both give it at 1/60.
Seed packs and master farmers — both give it, so Farming routes can pick it up without a kill.

Some monsters give more than one seed per drop.

Growing Snapdragon

Plant it in a herb patch at 62 Farming. It takes 80 minutes to finish and gives 87.5 experience for planting and 98.5 for harvesting.

The thing to plan around is disease. Herb patches are not watched over by nearby gardeners, and a white lily plant does not help. Ultracompost, or the enhanced Fertile Soil spell, is the recommended protection, and it also raises the number of harvest lives from a minimum of 3 up to 6.

The harvested herb is grimy snapdragon. Clean it at 59 Herblore, then use it for super restore potions or Sanfew serums.

Is it worth growing?

It can pay, as long as you protect the crop. A dead patch gives you nothing back, so the compost choice matters as much as the seed price.

Compare what the seed costs now with what the herb sells for before you commit a run to it. If you only want the potions, you can skip the farming and buy the herb instead.

Snapdragon seed FAQ

What level do you need to plant a Snapdragon seed?
62 Farming, in a herb patch. Cleaning the grown herb takes 59 Herblore.
How long do Snapdragon seeds take to grow?
80 minutes, which is four growth stages of 20 minutes each. The patch does not regrow after you harvest it.
How much experience does a Snapdragon seed give?
Planting is worth 87.5 Farming experience and harvesting adds 98.5. The planting experience is paid out at harvest, together with the harvesting experience.
How many snapdragon herbs do you get from one seed?
The patch has a minimum of 3 harvest lives. Each tier of compost adds one, so ultracompost takes it to a maximum of 6. On each pick there is also a chance, between about 22.7% at level 1 and 31.6% at level 99, that a life is not used up.
What is grimy snapdragon used for?
Once cleaned, it is used in Herblore for super restore potions (63 Herblore) and Sanfew serums (65 Herblore). For a super restore you add red spiders' eggs to a snapdragon potion (unf). A Sanfew serum starts from a finished super restore, with unicorn horn dust, snake weed and nail beast nails added in that order.
Do gardeners protect Snapdragon from disease?
No. Nearby gardeners do not look after herb patches, and a fully grown white lily does not protect them either. Using ultracompost, or the Fertile Soil spell, is the recommended way to cut the risk of the crop dying.
Where do you get Snapdragon seeds?
They drop from many monsters, come out of seed packs, and can be pickpocketed from master farmers. Drop rates are in the How to get section.
Is growing Snapdragon profitable?
It can be, if you take steps against disease. Whether it pays right now depends on what the seed and the grimy herb are selling for, so compare the seed's price with the herb price on the price tracker before you plant.
