The warped sceptre is a one-handed powered staff requiring 62 Magic to wield. It drops from warped terrorbirds and warped tortoises on a Slayer task (56 Slayer, after partly completing The Path of Glouphrie). Cheap and effective, it is one of the best midgame magic weapons and a favourite for Ironman accounts.
Equipment bonuses
The warped sceptre has +12 Magic attack and its own built-in spell, so you don't equip runes for normal casts. Its max hit scales with your Magic level — 16 at level 62 up to 24 at level 99 — and its fast cast speed gives it better damage than Iban's staff while being much cheaper than a trident of the seas.
Requires 62 Magic · one-handed powered staff · attack speed 4 · range 7. Only tradeable when fully uncharged.
How the warped sceptre works
The sceptre is charged with earth and chaos runes (5 earth + 2 chaos per cast) and holds up to 20,000 charges. Because the runes are stored inside it, it frees up inventory space compared to Iban's staff — handy on long trips. You can uncharge it at any time to get the runes back, and it only becomes tradeable once fully empty. See its damage in the OSRS DPS calculator.
How to get the warped sceptre
The uncharged sceptre is a drop from warped terrorbirds and warped tortoises, which need 56 Slayer and partial completion of The Path of Glouphrie to fight. You can also buy the uncharged version on the Grand Exchange (live price above) and charge it yourself.
