Grand Exchange price history
The Armadyl helmet is a ranged helm from the God Wars Dungeon. It needs 70 Defence and 70 Ranged, gives +10 ranged attack and has no ranged strength at all. The Masori mask now beats it on offence, so the helmet mostly matters to players between 70 and 79 Ranged, and it has a second use: chiselled at 90 Crafting it becomes an Armadylean plate, the part that fortifies Masori armour.
Equipment bonuses
The helm is a mix of one good number and several penalties: +10 ranged attack is a high figure for the head slot, but stab, slash, crush and magic attack are all −5, and ranged strength is 0. Defences are small but still above the Masori mask's: +6 stab, +8 slash, +10 crush, +10 magic and +8 ranged, with +1 Prayer.
Requires 70 Defence and 70 Ranged to wear · head slot · members. Its standout numbers are the +10 ranged attack and +10 crush and magic defence shown above.
How to get the Armadyl helmet
The helmet is a drop from the Armadyl side of the God Wars Dungeon, and it also has a very rare clue-scroll source.
It sits in the same drop table as the Armadyl chestplate and chainskirt, which make up the rest of the Armadyl set.
Where the Armadyl helmet is used
The helmet is a head-slot option for ranged setups only. Because of its penalties to melee and magic attack, it works best when you never leave the ranged style during a fight.
It is used for Kree'arra (including the chinchompa and ranged-tank methods), General Graardor, K'ril Tsutsaroth, the Chambers of Xeric and Nex. The Masori mask does the same job better once you reach 80 Ranged.
It also has a use outside combat. One Armadylean plate comes from chiselling the helmet at 90 Crafting, and plates are what turn standard Masori armour into the fortified version. For that reason it is worth keeping the plate route in mind before you sell one. Browse the fortified pieces on Masori body (f).
Armadyl helmet compared with the Masori mask
The Masori mask beats the Armadyl helmet on the numbers a ranged setup cares about: +12 ranged attack against +10, +2 ranged strength against 0, and only a −1 magic attack penalty against −5. Masori armour also avoids the melee accuracy penalty that the Armadyl set carries.
What the helmet keeps is better raw defence: +10 crush and +10 magic defence against the mask's +3 and +6. The trade is lower offence, so it suits a setup where you want defence more than damage.
If you already own one, it covers the gap while you build the levels for the mask, and you can then decide whether to keep it for the plate. For the full ranged picture see ranged gear.
