Grand Exchange price history
Blood Moon tassets are the melee leg armour from the Blood Moon set. You need 75 Strength and 50 Defence to wear them. They give the same +2 strength as Bandos tassets, but give up melee and ranged defence for a much higher magic defence (+32). They drop from the Lunar Chest, they degrade with use, and they are one piece of the set that powers the Bloodrager effect on the Dual macuahuitl.
Equipment bonuses
Defence is spread across the board: +30 stab, +50 slash, +49 crush, +46 ranged and +32 magic. The +2 strength is the same figure Bandos tassets give. The −21 magic and −7 ranged attack penalties are the usual cost of heavy leg armour.
Requires 75 Strength and 50 Defence to wear · legs slot · members · degrades in combat. Its standout numbers are the +32 magic defence and +2 strength shown above.
How to get Blood Moon tassets
The tassets are a unique reward, so the Lunar Chest is the only place new ones enter the game.
When a set roll succeeds, a second roll picks one of the pieces you do not own yet. You will not get a duplicate piece until you have received every piece in the set once.
Using Blood Moon tassets
Wear the tassets with the rest of the Blood Moon armour and the Dual macuahuitl and you get the Bloodrager set effect. On a successful hit the weapon has a 33% chance to swing one tick sooner. Its special attack guarantees the effect. The effect can still trigger if one of the pieces is broken. The matching body piece is the Blood Moon chestplate.
The armour degrades. It starts with 3,000 charges and spends one for every 54 seconds in combat, which is about 45 hours of fighting before it breaks. Repair costs are the same as for the Blood Moon chestplate: 1,500,000 coins with an NPC, or 757,500 at 99 Smithing on an armour stand. The broken version is tradeable, so it can be cheaper to buy a new one than to repair.
Blood Moon tassets or Bandos tassets?
The two share the same +2 strength. After that they point different ways.
- Bandos tassets need 65 Defence and drop from General Graardor and his bodyguards in the God Wars Dungeon. They give +71 stab, +63 slash, +66 crush and +93 ranged defence, a −4 magic defence and +1 prayer, and they weigh 8 kg.
- Blood Moon tassets give +30 / +50 / +49 melee defence and +46 ranged, but +32 magic defence, which is 36 more than Bandos. They have no prayer bonus, weigh 4.082 kg and degrade.
If the thing hurting you is melee or ranged, Bandos is the stronger leg slot. If you face magic, or want the Bloodrager effect with the Dual macuahuitl, the Blood Moon pair makes sense. Open the melee gear list to see the other leg options.
