Fighter torso

“A Penance Fighter torso armour.”

The Fighter torso is a body-slot armour earned from the Barbarian Assault minigame. It requires 40 Defence to wear and is untradeable, so it can't be bought — you have to earn it. Its +4 strength bonus is one of the highest in the body slot, tied with the Bandos chestplate, and it costs only time spent playing rather than coins, which makes it one of the most popular melee-training bodies in the game.

Equipment bonuses

Strong melee defence for its tier and a +4 strength bonus — the stat that matters most for melee training. Its strength bonus matches the Bandos chestplate, the oathplate chest, the Blood moon chestplate and Inquisitor's hauberk, but it's earned with time instead of coins.

How to get the Fighter torso

✓ Bought with honour points — there is no drop chance
Barbarian Assault
Play Barbarian Assault and earn honour points by completing waves in each of the four roles — attacker, defender, collector and healer.
Reach 375 honour points in all four roles, and get one Penance Queen kill (the minigame's final boss).
Buy the Fighter torso from Commander Connad at the Barbarian Assault lobby.
You need 40 Defence to wear it. There's no level requirement to earn it, though lower-level players may struggle with the attacker role.
Why players want it: the Fighter torso's +4 strength bonus is tied with the Bandos chestplate (and the oathplate chest, Blood moon chestplate and Inquisitor's hauberk), but it costs only time playing Barbarian Assault instead of coins — making it a go-to melee-training body until you can afford a Bandos chestplate.

Fighter torso FAQ

How do you get the Fighter torso?
It's a reward from the Barbarian Assault minigame. You buy it from Commander Connad for 375 honour points in all four roles (attacker, defender, collector and healer), plus one Penance Queen kill.
Can you buy the Fighter torso on the Grand Exchange?
No — it's untradeable, so there's no Grand Exchange price. You can only earn it through Barbarian Assault.
What level do you need for the Fighter torso?
You need 40 Defence to wear it. There's no level requirement to earn it in Barbarian Assault, though lower-level players may find the attacker role harder.
Is the Fighter torso good for melee training?
Yes — it's one of the most popular melee-training bodies. It gives a +4 strength bonus, the same as the Bandos chestplate, but costs only the time spent playing Barbarian Assault instead of coins.
Fighter torso vs Bandos chestplate — which is better?
They have the same +4 strength bonus, so for melee DPS they're equal. The Bandos chestplate has higher defensive stats and a higher Defence requirement; the Fighter torso is free (earned, not bought) and only needs 40 Defence, which is why many players use it until they can afford Bandos.
How many honour points does the Fighter torso cost?
375 honour points in each of the four roles — attacker, defender, collector and healer — plus one Penance Queen kill. You earn honour points by completing waves of Barbarian Assault.
How much defence does the Fighter torso give?
Solid melee defence for its tier — its slash defence in particular is high for a body piece. The exact bonuses are in the stats panel above. Note it has a large magic attack penalty, so it's a melee piece, not a hybrid one.
Is the Fighter torso worth getting?
For melee training, yes — the +4 strength bonus matches far more expensive bodies and it only needs 40 Defence. The main cost is the time spent earning it in Barbarian Assault.
