The Inquisitor's mace is a one-handed crush weapon requiring 80 Attack, dropped by The Nightmare. On a 4-tick (2.4s) cycle it carries +95 crush, +89 strength and a unique +2 Prayer bonus — one of the strongest one-handed crush weapons in the game, and the crush counterpart to the Ghrazi rapier and Blade of saeldor. Worn with a piece of Inquisitor's armour, it lifts that piece's set bonus fivefold, from +0.5% to +2.5% accuracy and damage. It carries a steep Grand Exchange price tag.
Equipment bonuses
The Inquisitor's mace's defining numbers are +95 crush attack and +89 melee strength, plus a rare +2 Prayer bonus that no other endgame crush weapon carries. It swings on a 4-tick cycle (2.4 seconds per hit) and needs 80 Attack to wield.
Those numbers make it one of the strongest one-handed crush weapons in the game — behind only the untradeable, Bounty Hunter-exclusive Statius's warhammer — but with almost no slash accuracy (-4) to fall back on, so it's a dedicated crush-style pick rather than a flexible one.

How to get the Inquisitor's mace
The Inquisitor's mace is a rare drop from The Nightmare, a members-only boss whose health and combat stats scale with group size (5 to 80 players). It sits on the boss's shared armour/mace/staff unique table alongside the Inquisitor's great helm, hauberk, plateskirt and the Nightmare staff.
- Drop rate: roughly 1/750 per eligible kill in a small group, improving to about 1/428.7 with the maximum 80-player party bonus.
- Unique table roll: the armour/mace/staff table itself only has a base 1/83.33 chance to be rolled on any given kill, with a second independent roll possible in larger parties.
- Tradeable: because it's tradeable, most players simply buy it on the Grand Exchange rather than farming the boss themselves.
Only players who deal enough damage to both the Nightmare's shield and its totems are eligible for a drop.
The mace's Inquisitor's armour synergy
The mace's biggest mechanical quirk is what it does for Inquisitor's armour. Each piece of the armour normally gives a small +0.5% accuracy and damage bonus on crush attacks, but wielding the Inquisitor's mace multiplies that to +2.5% per piece — a fivefold boost. There's no extra bonus for owning the full set on top of that, so a maxed-out loadout (great helm, hauberk, plateskirt, mace) tops out at +7.5% accuracy and damage rather than the larger bonus you might expect from a matching three-piece set elsewhere.
The mace and armour also both count as a Zamorak item in the God Wars Dungeon, giving God-related protection from Zamorak's followers there.
Because it hits on crush, the mace can also be used to train Attack, Strength or Defence depending on the combat style selected, unlike most single-style melee weapons.
Is the Inquisitor's mace worth it?
Yes, for players building general-purpose melee gear. The Inquisitor's mace is tied with the Ghrazi rapier and Blade of saeldor for the highest general-use melee damage output, and it's the only one of the three with a crush attack style plus a +2 Prayer bonus. At 80 Attack, its requirement now matches both the rapier and the Blade of saeldor, since all three were raised from 75 to 80 Attack in the same 11 May 2022 rebalance.
- Pick it when: the target is weak to crush, or you already own pieces of Inquisitor's armour and want the set synergy.
- Pick something else when: the target has very high defence (Osmumten's fang pulls ahead there) or you're fighting large, multi-hit targets (the Scythe of vitur wins there).
- No special attack: the mace has no spec of its own, so it's a main-hand DPS pick rather than a spec weapon.
Its main downside is accessibility — it only drops from The Nightmare and carries a steep Grand Exchange price, so most players work up to it rather than buy it on day one.
Inquisitor's mace FAQ
What level do you need for the Inquisitor's mace?
You need 80 Attack to wield it. It originally required 75 Attack, but the requirement was raised to 80 in the 11 May 2022 Equipment Rebalance.
How do you get the Inquisitor's mace?
It's a rare unique drop from The Nightmare, rolling at roughly 1/750 per eligible kill (better with a bigger party). Because it's tradeable, most players just buy it on the Grand Exchange instead of farming the boss.
Is the Inquisitor's mace still good?
Yes. It's one of the strongest one-handed crush weapons in the game (only the Bounty Hunter-exclusive Statius's warhammer beats its bonuses) and ties with the Ghrazi rapier and Blade of saeldor for the highest general-use melee damage. It also carries a unique +2 Prayer bonus the other two don't have.
Does the Inquisitor's mace have a special attack?
No. The Inquisitor's mace has no special attack. It's a pure DPS weapon — you'd carry a separate spec weapon alongside it if needed.
How much is the Inquisitor's mace worth?
It carries a steep price on the Grand Exchange, reflecting how rare it is to obtain. Check the live price and history chart above for the current figure and how it's trended.
What does the Inquisitor's mace do for Inquisitor's armour?
Wielding the mace multiplies each piece of Inquisitor's armour's crush accuracy and damage bonus from +0.5% to +2.5% per piece. With the full set worn (great helm, hauberk, plateskirt) and the mace equipped, the total bonus caps at +7.5%.
What's the Inquisitor's mace's attack speed?
It attacks on a 4-tick cycle, or 2.4 seconds per hit — the same speed as an abyssal whip or the Ghrazi rapier. Its +95 crush and +89 strength make it the top crush weapon at that speed.
Inquisitor's mace or Ghrazi rapier?
They're effectively tied for general-use melee damage, so pick based on the target's weakness: crush for the mace, stab for the rapier. The mace also adds a +2 Prayer bonus and boosts Inquisitor's armour, while the rapier has no such synergy.
Update history
