Blade of saeldor

“A magical elven sword.”

The Blade of Saeldor is a crystal slash sword that needs 80 Attack, and it is widely considered the best one-handed slash weapon in the game. It swings every 4 ticks with +100 slash and +93 strength, and because it is one-handed it leaves room for a defender. It is sung from an enhanced crystal weapon seed from the Gauntlet and runs on crystal shards, unless you corrupt it so it never degrades.

Equipment bonuses

The charged blade gives +55 stab, +100 slash and +93 strength, with no defensive bonuses at all. The slash and strength numbers were raised in the 22 July 2026 update, from +94 and +89. When its charges run out, the blade turns inactive and loses every bonus until you add more shards.

How to get the Blade of Saeldor

The blade is sung from a seed at a singing bowl.

Ways to obtain it
Enhanced crystal weapon seed — a rare drop from the Gauntlet, and tradeable. See the enhanced crystal weapon seed page.
Sing it yourself — combine the seed and 100 crystal shards at a singing bowl with 82 Smithing and 82 Crafting (both boostable). This gives 5,000 XP in each skill.
Pay to have it sung — without the levels, Conwenna or Reese will do it for 50 extra shards, so 150 in total.
Grand Exchange — the inactive blade is tradeable, and that is the form priced on this page. A charged blade cannot be traded.

A new blade starts with 10,000 charges. The same seed can instead be sung into the Bow of Faerdhinen.

Charges, corruption and death

The blade uses one charge per attack, whether the hit lands or not. Each crystal shard adds 100 charges, up to 20,000. An elven signet does not save charges on this weapon.

Corrupting it stops the degrading for good. Bring the blade and 1,000 crystal shards to a singing bowl with 82 Smithing and 82 Crafting, or pay Conwenna or Reese 500 extra shards. Both the charges still in the blade and the charges you have used count toward the 1,000, so a fresh blade with 10,000 charges needs only 900 more shards. The corrupted blade is untradeable, and reverting it loses the shards.

On death in PvM you keep your charges. On an unprotected death in PvP, the inactive blade drops and the shards used to charge it are lost.

Blade of Saeldor vs other one-handed weapons

The blade sits with the Ghrazi rapier and the Inquisitor's mace as one of the strongest one-handed melee weapons. Those two cover stab and crush. The blade is the slash choice. All three fall behind Osmumten's fang against high-defence monsters that are weak to stab.

Among two-handed weapons, Saradomin's blessed sword matches its slash bonus at the same speed. Once you add a defender, such as the Avernic defender, the blade is the better choice.

Blade of Saeldor or Ghrazi rapier?
They are both top one-handed weapons. The blade is the slash option and the Ghrazi rapier is the stab option, so the better pick depends on the monster's weakest defence.
Blade of Saeldor or Saradomin's blessed sword?
They have the same slash bonus at the same speed. The blade is one-handed, so with any defender in the shield slot it comes out ahead.
Can you sell a charged Blade of Saeldor?
No. Only the inactive blade is tradeable. Reverting the blade to a seed costs 250 shards, so it is usually simpler to sell the inactive blade.
Do you lose the Blade of Saeldor's charges on death?
Not in PvM. On an unprotected PvP death the inactive blade drops and the shards used to charge it are lost.
