The Magic longbow is a two-handed bow made from magic logs. It needs 50 Ranged and fires arrows up to amethyst. It has +69 ranged attack and a slow 6-tick swing with a 10-tile range. Players make it with 85 Fletching or buy it, and its special attack, Powershot, is guaranteed to hit.

Equipment bonuses

The bow gives +69 ranged attack, the same figure as the Magic shortbow, and nothing else. It adds no strength bonus, because the arrows supply the damage, and it has no defensive bonuses.

How to get the Magic longbow

You can fletch it at 85 Fletching, or buy it on the Grand Exchange.

Ways to obtain it
Fletching — needs 85 Fletching. Cut magic logs into an unstrung magic longbow for 91.5 experience, then string it with a bow string for another 91.5.
Grand Exchange — it is tradeable with a buy limit of 18,000 every 4 hours.

There is also a money-making guide on stringing magic longbows. Whether it makes a profit depends on the live prices of the bow, the logs and the string, so check them before you rely on it.

Magic logs come from magic trees, which you can grow yourself by planting a Magic sapling at 75 Farming, then cut for logs at 75 Woodcutting.

The Magic longbow's special attack

Powershot uses 35% of your special attack energy and is guaranteed to hit.

It does not use your normal Ranged maximum-hit calculation. Offensive Prayers such as Eagle Eye are ignored, as are Void bonuses and your armour's ranged strength. Only your visible Ranged level and the ranged strength of your ammo count. The formula is the floor of 0.5 + (visible Ranged + 10) × (ammo ranged strength + 64) ÷ 640.

Slayer helmet, Salve amulet and similar boosts are ignored as well. The Magic comp bow has the same special.

Magic longbow vs Magic shortbow

The two bows have the same +69 ranged attack. The difference is how they fire. The Magic shortbow swings every 4 ticks and reaches 7 tiles. The longbow swings every 6 ticks and reaches 10.

The shortbow also needs less Fletching to make (80 against 85). Its special is Snapshot, which fires two arrows in quick succession. For a stronger setup, see ranged gear.
